Superman (Volume 6) #18 is an issue of the series Superman (Volume 6) with a cover date of November, 2024. It was published on September 18, 2024.

Synopsis for "I Hate Magic"

Neron asks Superman and Zatanna what they are willing to give for the Map of Mordru. Superman says they won't trade their souls but Neron replies that their souls are useless to him: Superman is immortal and Zatanna is so tainted by black magic that she's practically his anyway. He asks Superman, the embodiment of truth and goodness, to lie for him and Superman agrees, despite Zatanna warning him not to. Neron hands over the map, and whispers that he knows Superman's secret and about the anger he hides. Zatanna uses the Map to take them into the Dark Roads.

On Earth, Mercy and Lois lead Lex, Jimmy and Siobhan to the Fortress of Solitude but find it in ruins after the Brainiac Queen's attack.

In the Dark Roads, Zatanna guides her and Superman to the House of Heroes where they can recruit help from the Multiverse. along the way she collapses, with dashed lines appearing over her body. She reveals that the Map feeds on the magic of the user, and as she has lost her magic it is consuming her life force instead. Superman says he would never have let her do this if he knew the Map would hurt her, but Zatanna replies that she'll do anything to get her magic back, as she has nothing in her life outside it.

Superman and Zatanna leave the Dark Roads and emerge into the House of Heroes, but find it in ruins and with only Doctor Light onboard. Doctor Light explains that an Amazo set by Waller attacked the House and stole her powers. She tells them that Waller has blocked off access to the Multiverse and is recruiting an army of her own from alternate universes. Zatanna asks how Waller blocked them off from the Multiverse and Doctor Light tells her that Waller had an agent laying in wait in The Bleed for a year, and when Waller made her move on Earth 0 he started attacking anyone who tried to travel through The Bleed.

Superman asks what could live in The Bleed for a year and a strange figure wearing a Yellow Power Ring and a green and purple costume combining elements of Superman's and Batman's bursts in. Superman recognises him as a twisted version of when he and Batman once fused together with a Green Lantern Ring. He starts blasting at the heroes with his ring, announcing that his name is "Konfusion". Zatanna and Doctor Light dive for cover and Doctor Light recognises him as coming from Earth 3. Konfusion creates a construct of Ultraman to restrain Superman and says that Hoshi is correct: everything that happens on Earth 0 creates an opposite on Earth 3, so when Superman and Batmn fused together years ago it created him.

Konfusion says that he isn't Ultraman or Owlman, but before he can reveal who he really is, the entire House shakes and sends them all flying. Doctor Light says that Waller has damaged The Bleed, and now the House is crashing. Superman says they need to leave now, but Zatanna is too drained by the Map to open a portal. Superman says he will help her, and together they open a shadow portal. The three heroes jump through and Konfusion chases after them, but it closes before he can get through, leaving him stranded as the House collapses around him.

At the Fortress, Mercy sends Jimmy, Lex and Siobhan back to Metropolis while she and Lois stay behind to investigate what happened. Lois' armour picks up a transmission from Waller calling on Task Force VII to return to Gamorra and prepare for an attack by the heroes. Their shadows begin lengthening and Mercy pulls out a gun, believing they are under attack, but the shadow forms into Superman's silhouette and he steps through. He and Lois happily embrace and Zatanna fills Mercy and Lois in on what happened to the Fortress. Superman says he, Zatanna and Doctor Light will take the Dark Roads to find Batman and Wonder Woman; meanwhile Lois and Mercy will go back to Metropolis and use the daily Planet to counter Waller's disinformation. The group all jump back into a shadow portal.

In Hell, Doomsday breaks through the wall over the gate back to Earth.
