Superwoman is back.
Superman (Volume 6) #31 is an issue of the series Superman (Volume 6) with a cover date of December, 2025. It was published on October 22, 2025.
Synopsis for "Man of Apokolips, Part One"
At the Watchtower, the Justice League has an emergency meeting with the Quantum Quorum, composed of the Time Trapper, Alpheus, Booster Gold and Gorilla Grodd. Superman does not trust in the Trapper's plan to have Earth's heroes storm the heart of Apokolips so that one of them can become a King Omega, a being powerful enough to challenge Darkseid, but the Trapper insists that this is the best plan they have and that Superman and his allies cannot afford to show mercy.
After the meeting, Superman travels to the Fortress of Solitude, which is still undergoing a reconstruction process after the conflict with Amanda Waller. He activates the AI hologram of Jor-El and asks him about any information he might have about Darkseid, but Jor-El replies that he does not possess that information. Jor-El tried to store all available information about Krypton within Superman's ship but some information was deemed illegal and some pieces of history and data were deemed redundant. Superman is aware that he is talking to a holographic program based on his father, not his actual father, but he still feels compelled to ask why did Jor-El not attempt to save the entire Kryptonian species. Jor-El replies that, during his generation, space travel had been outlawed and Jor-El only had time and resources to secretly build a spaceship for his son. If he had the resources, then he would have saved everyone. That answer gives a small comfort to Superman, who deactivates the hologram and leaves the Fortress.
At Lexcorp, Mercy is supervising Parasite's recovery after his terrible battle with Doomsday. Mercy says that Parasite is lucky to have absorbed a fraction of Doomsday's power, otherwise he would not have survived. Parasite says that Doomsday's energy was the most delicious he has ever tasted and Mercy is worried that, after having tasted such energy, anything else would not satisfy Parasite's hunger. In that moment, Superman arrives and requests to have a private talk with Mercy, who knows that Superman is concerned about the Apokoliptian fire pits growing around the Earth. Superman might have shut down Lexcorp's communications with the Justice League, but Lexcorp still has ways to be aware of the League's plans.
Mercy takes Superman to a hangar that holds Lexcorp's latest project, a large spaceship called the "Supership". It was built using Brainiac's bottling technology when Superman was still associated with Lexcorp and it was meant to be used for scientific purposes. Mercy says that the Supership can hold an entire city and perhaps an entire country, and Superman replies that they will need a dozen of Superships and he knows people who can help Mercy construct more of them.
At the Kent farm, Superman and Supergirl explain the King Omega tournament to Lois, who does not believe that trusting anything the Time Trapper says is a good idea. The Justice League does not intend to lose this fight, but should the worse come to pass, Superman has requested assistance from Steelworks and the Titans to evacuate the entire planet. Superman admits that he cannot partake in this battle without knowing his wife is safe but Lois says that she does not feel comfortable receiving special privilege and that Superman's duty is to everyone.
Suddenly, Jonathan and Martha arrive at the apartment and notice the pained expression in Superman's face. Jonathan says Clark had that exact same face when he was eight and he crashed the tractor into the barn and Clark promises to explain everything, but he first, he wants to spend a day of peace with his family.
Soon, the evacuation begins and Superman has received news that Mercy has secured the bottled city containing Doomsday and the Radiant. He also tells Lois that his attempt to get answers from Jor-El about Darkseid was unsuccessful but he intends to win this fight for the people he cares about. Husband and wife share a kiss before he departs and Mercy calls Lois to let her know that they are ready for takeoff, as well. As the Superships leave the atmosphere, Lois separates from the main group and takes a detour to the Fortress.
She activates Jor-El's AI program and asks him the same questions Superman had asked earlier, those pertaining to Darkseid and King Omega. Jor-El says that he does not possess that information, but she does not trust him after all the secrets the real Jor-El kept from their family. In that moment, Jor-El's hologram disappears and is replaced by a secondary program based on Lara. This program was activated when Lois started asking questions about Darkseid, a topic the real Lara investigated back when she was a historian on Krypton. She found no records of Darkseid but she did research on legends about a Final God, a dark Omega presence that would conquer the universe. Krypton's scientists hoped to create a champion, an Alpha, that would stop this destroyer and Lois deduces that this Doomsday is this Alpha and she has to tell Superman about it.
In that moment, a stranger crashes into the Fortress. It is Superboy-Prime, exhausted from his battle against the Legion of Darkseid. He knows what happened to the other Legions and needs to informs Superman about it, but he and Lois are ambushed by Sun Boy, who has been chasing Prime from the 31st century and is aware of the Justice League's plan to capture the heart of Apokolips. Prime tells Sun Boy that there is something he did not count on: his solar energy reactivating Lois' Kryptonian powers. For now, Superwoman is back.
