Synopsis for "Man of Apokolips, Part Two"
In the past, after Lois had lost her superpowers, the Justice League took Lois to the Watchtower ran a medical test on her. Mr. Terrific explained to Lois that, because the origin of her powers was unknown, they did not know whether her powers were completely gone or had just gone back to their original owner, but that did not mean Lois could regain them. They offered to do more tests, but Lois already made peace with the fact that she would not be Superwoman any longer.
In the present, Lois has indeed regained her powers after being exposed to the energies of Sun Boy, from the Omega Legion. With her new strength, Lois knocks out Sun Boy with a single blow and Superboy-Prime, her unlikely ally, does not believe her powers will last long, which is why she must use them carefully. Prime says they should leave before the other Legionnaires find them, but Lois replies that she has found information on how to beat Darkseid and they must protect the Fortress to ensure this information reaches Superman safely.
At the King Omega tournament, Superman faces difficult challenges in his quest to gain power and prevent Darkseid from conquering the universe. One of the enemies standing in his way is Lex, who was already aware of the tournament and the Justice League's plan to capture as many villains as it could to avoid any interference.
A week ago, when the Quantum Quorum was explaining the basics of the Justice League, Grodd informed Lex about everything that had transpired at the Watchtower through their mental connection. Knowing that the heroes would attempt to prevent the villains from interfering in the tournament, Lex and Grodd took steps to force their way into the tournament.
When Terrific's spheres reached the villains, Lex redirected them to teleport them into the Hall of Doom instead of the Phantom Zone, as the Justice League had planned. He explains to the gathered villains that the Justice League will travel to the center of the Earth to enter a tournament in which they will compete to obtain the heart of Apokolips, a weapon that will grant godlike power to its user. In other words, the Leaguers will attempt to act like villains, but Lex knows that cruelty and ruthlessness are not in the heroes' nature, which is why he believes villains should try and save the world for once.
Some villains, like Cheetah, do not want to cooperate with Lex because they know any alliances to be made with him will inevitably collapse, but others, like the Joker, cannot pass up the chance to obtain unlimited power. Starro asks how they will reach the center of the Earth, and Lex outfits his fellow villains with suits of armor similar to his own. The reformed Legion of Doom travels to the realm of Skartaris and forcibly enters the tournament.
In the present, the fighters begin the next phase of the tournament at the graveyard of the gods. Lex tells Superman that he has no problem sacrificing his own allies to get what he wants and, in time, Superman's own friends will be forced to make their own sacrifices if they want to win. Superman does not care about whatever Lex has to say and stands ready to stop him, but Lex replies that Superman cannot win because he is blinded by his own morality. He cares, not just for the friends that are partaking in the tournament, but for the friends he left behind, as well.
Superman and Lex advance to the next round of the tournament and prepare to fight their newest opponents. Superman will confront Captain Atom, while Lex will take on Etrigan.
Back in the Fortress of Solitude, Lois informs Superboy-Prime about the K.O. tournament and reminds him that they have to protect the information they got from Lara's hologram. Prime has an idea on how to get reinforcements and moves to another part of the Fortress just as Sun Boy awakens and is supported by other Legionnaires, Ferro Lad and Timberwolf. The Legionnaires attempt to destroy the archives in the Fortress and prevent them from being used against Darkseid, but Prime has brought a new ally to the battle: Superman. Lois is surprised that Prime brought her husband back to the Fortress so quickly and assists in the defense of the Fortress.
The Legionnaires are incapacitated and Prime reminds Lois they must move the archives out of the Fortress to prevent from falling into the wrong hands. Lois attempts to ask Superman about what is happening in the tournament, only to discover that this Superman is not really her husband, but rather one of the robots Superman had constructed over the years. Prime reveals he has reactivated the other robots within the Fortress and says the only way to help Superman is by reaching the Time Trapper.
