Swamp King is a version of Alec Holland from the Dark Multiverse where he had also become the Swamp Thing but went evil after Abby Arcane's death and conquered the Earth after destroying the Parliament of Trees.
History
Alec Holland was originally a scientist who, after an incident, became the avatar of the Green known as Swamp Thing. She was in love with Abby Arcane, both before and after his transformation.
At some point in time, the mad scientist Jason Woodrue tried to claim the power of the Green for himself but Swamp Thing stopped him at the cost of Abby's life. Her sacrifice caused the begin of Alec's descent into madness, becoming obsessed with life itself.
Alec killed Anton Arcane in order to connect himself with the Rot and, after that, he moved against the Red, submissing it; the Green became aware of its avatar's intentions and tried to stop him but the Swamp Thing was too strong for the Parliament of Trees that was slaughtered by the creature. Alec Holland created a world of eternal spring, referring to himself as the Swamp King.[1]
Dark Nights: Death Metal
During the final stand of Earth 0 against the Darkest Knight, Swamp King was recruited into the Dark Batman's army along with other Dark Multiverse nightmares and Last 52 villains.
A group of monster creatures, including Clayface, Frankenstein and Brimstone, confronted Swamp King's elemental minions in order to let Swamp Thing reach his evil counterpart who was waiting for him on a giant tree.
As Swamp Thing reached him, Swamp King assaulted him, mocking him for his choice to move against him as he believed he had become too strong for the Earth 0's avatar of the Green; Swamp Thing explained him that Swamp King's lack of soul would always make him weaker than him: after that, the avatar of the Green managed to free himself from Swamp King's grasp and threw him down the giant tree, letting the nightmare creature crash on the its base.[1]
