Quote1 I have turned the other cheek too often today. Murder and horror are holy things, and I have not been devout enough. We must have faith in horror, my creatures. It elevates us. When we destroy for our master Damocles, we are cleansed. Damocles loves us best when we kill everything we see. Killing is our prayer. Dr. Tsung...? Let us pray. Quote2

Sword of Damocles #1 is an issue of the series Sword of Damocles (Volume 1) with a cover date of March, 1996.

Synopsis for "Fire from Heaven, Prelude 1"

The issue begins with the Bounty Hunters entering the Sword's castle, telling him that they have failed to obtain the qeelocke, and were defeated by Gen-Active superhumans, and begs him not to kill them. He then tortures them with the energy from his sword, and he states that such powers can only be derived from a unique being. The Sword's master, Damocles, hears this and says that being could be Sigma. Damocles blames Sigma for the death of his family and destruction of his homeworld. He tells the Sword that the qeelocke is unimportant, and to find Sigma instead.

In London, the Sword and the Bounty Hunters kill people and uses the nanites in his blood to turn their remains into a scanner to locate Sigma. He detects a signal in Gamorra and teleports there to find Kaizen Gamorra running tests on a failed clone of Sigma. The Sword shows him the map to Dr. Tsung, the creator of the Gen-Factor, who he disappeared from the military program over two decades ago, and Kaizen's agents uncovered evidence that he's in San Francisco. He also tells the Sword that Winter is in New York.

In New York, just as Winter exits the United Nations Building, he is attacked by the Sword. After he seemingly kills Winter with his sword, he goes to Berkeley, where the Bounty Hunters are fighting the Hunter-Killers. He then kills a few of them, then approaches Sigma and Dr. Tsung in their burning home, and says: "Killing is our prayer, Dr. Tsung? Let us pray".
