Synopsis for "Birth Pains"

Blind man Joshua Saunders suddenly becomes an all-knowing god. His body turns to energy, and for the first time in his life, he sees. The Highfather shows up before him, taking responsibility for Joshua's ascension to godhood and calling him Takion, the champion who will restore the Source. Cosmic awareness suddenly overwhelms Joshua as he sees events from the past, present, and future all at once.

Getting a hold of himself, Takion returns to Earth, to the exact place where he stopped being Joshua Sanders and became a god. The surge of energy causes Green Lantern (who was passing nearby) to briefly lose control of his ring. Takion then goes to the hospital he works at and meets Nancy, his coworker and romantic interest. Takion teleports with Nancy to the rooftop and reveals himself as Josh. He tries to get Nancy to help him figure things out, but suddenly Highfather forces him to go away.

In the air, Green Lantern confronts Takion. Josh accidentally absorbs the energy from Green Lantern's ring. The power overwhelms Josh, and he accidentally teleports an aircraft carrier into the city, crushing the building he, Green Lantern, and Nancy are standing on.
