Takion (Volume 1) with a cover date of November, 1996.
Synopsis for "Dark Dawn"
After turning his back on Highfather, Takion joins Earth's heroes in the battle against the Sun-Eater. However, his intervention causes Captain Atom to remain untrustful of him. In the end, the heroes defeat the crisis, but not thanks to Takion. With things back to normal, Josh stays on Earth with no apparent purpose. Suddenly he notices his link to the Source is gone, and he feels alone and afraid for the first time.
Meanwhile, the priest Takion met at Naftali arrives on Earth, looking for Highfather's avatar. They find each other in Central Park, and both notice the absence of the Source. Josh tells him that the Source was his only hope to reclaim his life and see his parents again. The monk listens to him and teleports them to Josh's parents' house. Takion and the priest remain invisible, but Josh dedicates a few words to his mother before departing.
Takion and the priest, who reveals his name as Arzaz, go to the Brooklyn Bridge, where a giant monster suddenly appears out of the water. Takion fights the monster while Arzaz observes from a distance. Takion senses Source in that beast, but he fights it either way. Moved by anger, Takion is about to kill the giant, but refrains, saying the Source is benign, not vengeful.
Arzaz commends Takion's strength to resist the tainted side of the Source. He also explains that he called the beast to test him. Takion mentions that he sensed the Source for an instant, which seems to shock Arzaz. The monk then urges Takion to accompany him so they can discover the truth of what Takion really is.
