Synopsis for "Half-Man/Half Machine"
A man named Jason Baird wakes up from heart surgery and finds out that his doctor has installed a mechanical artificial heart in his chest to save his life. He is discharged from the hospital weeks later and is shocked to discover that his limbs are turning into mechanical parts. He surmises that the blood that is surging through his mechanical heart is changing his metabolism turning his cells into mechanical parts. He fears that eventually he will turn into one big machine. Baird then overhears his radio as newsman report that two gemini astronauts are scheduled to make an emergency landing but they are not coming down at their expected point. Baird rushes out to the countryside and spots the space capsule as it comes down into an unscalable mountain range. He ventures out to rescue the astronauts using the unique abilities that he has acquired with his mechanical body. He uses his body's unique abilities to travel through the rough terrain while drinking oil to refuel himself. He eventually locates the astronauts but they are located across from a pool of acidized water. He wades across to the other side with his body half dissolved from the acid and shoots off a flare gun alerting rescue teams. Baird is taken back to the hospital where amazingly he discovers that his body is returning back to its normal human self. The doctor explains that by wading into the acid pool, the acid reversed his metabolism which allowed him to regrow his human limbs back.
