Is this correct?[]
I'd like to add this note to the trivia section (and a similar note to other Convergence mini-series) , and I think it is correct, but I want to check with others first. Am I interpreting Convergence correctly? Should I wait until it is all over before adding this type of info?
- As reveled elsewhere in the Convergence event, Brainiac did not steal the physical Gotham City of Earth-One. Instead, he stole a slice of time from the city, and let that time progress on Telos under a dome. Therefore, the Swamp Thing, Abby and other characters that appear after the dome goes up on page nine are not the real Earth-One characters, but temporal copies. Pages one thru eight, however, are new untold events from Earth-One.

- First thing you should do is proof-read it. And, while I wouldn't put it past comic book writers to try to say that stealing an abstract concept (time) from a city somehow equals a physical representation of a city (Gotham), and isn't exactly the same thing as stealing the actual physical city of Gotham - I don't buy it. I haven't yet read all of the main Convergence series, but there is, so far in my reading, every indication that Brainiac grabbed the cities in domes right before they were destroyed or erased by a crisis, in many timelines and in many different realities. This does not adhere with cause-and-effect, but i'm willing to let that go. A little.
- However, I think your interpretation that the characters are "temporal copies" is slightly off-centre anyway. They are the inhabitants of a divergent timeline, i.e. the timeline in which Gotham City is not over-written by the merging that occurred at the end of Crisis on Infinite Earths, in this case. They are the Earth-One versions of the characters, but they become distinct from the mainstream counterparts (who became Swamp Thing and Abby of New Earth) when they were taken from their timeline and put on Telos (which exists outside time). Aaaaand to your last point: pages one through eight, are not at all new and untold events. They are exactly the events that occurred up to the beginning of the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover that takes place in Swamp Thing (Volume 2) #50. (Actually, a little earlier than that, but not much).
- At best, what we need is a boilerplate on character pages that explains that Convergence is not canon, but is, in fact, the same characters. - Hatebunny (talk) 22:28, May 26, 2015 (UTC)
