Wikipedia cribbing[]
I know that techinically Wikipedia exists in a kind of public domain, but am I the only person who finds it a little distasteful when whole sections of Wikipedia entries are copied in order to make DC Database entries? Chrisstansfield 15:38, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- It isn't 'public domain' per se, it is GFDL which allows full reproductions provided attrubution is paid properly.
- Our license is the same... people can copy us, provided proper credit is given.
- Still 'distastful' to some, but I am more flattered when people copy us.
- I am confident we will always be the better. ;)
- Where possible, we should encourage users not to copy, and to remove copied text to be replaced by our own originals. Agreed 100%.

- I concur. I understand that sometimes people get lazy, and it's easier to simply copy/paste sections from Wikipedia. Hell, I'm guilty of this as well (though I try to refrain from doing so whenever possible). The more important thing however, is that stuff you find on Wikipedia is OFTEN plagiarized from other web-sites. I've found a number of articles that were blatently ripped from the DCU Guide. So while DCDP editors may be innocently copying info from Wikipedia, they may be unaware that they are in fact, though unintentionally, stealing somebody else's work. --Brian Kurtz 17:45, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Very good point.
- Wikipedia is notorious for that, but who can blame them with nearly 2 million articles to keep track of. :(
- I wouldn't complain if we had that many, I suppose. :)

- 2 million articles? I'm working on it. (adds to "to do" list). :) --Brian Kurtz 13:21, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
If anyone has info on where Blue Devil apparently knew martial arts from, please don't hesitate to add it, and a citation. Thank you.Captainjackster (talk) 02:40, April 9, 2016 (UTC)
