Is there a reason why the info template takes up over half the page?Netherith 10:55, September 24, 2009 (UTC)
State?[]
I remember a few months ago I found the state where Gotham is located. I couldn't go back and find it, though...
Anyone know where is's located??? J. A. R. Head 22:43, January 3, 2010 (UTC)
- Just dumping this here: states given as GC's home in any continuity. Expand if you find another source. It's pretty consistently NJ in mainstream. --Tupka217 15:32, September 9, 2014 (UTC)
- NJ
- Earth-One: Text in Amazing World of DC Comics #14, 1977. Note: pretty much all the other states for Leaguer's home cities have been revised since then.
- Earth-One: Newspaper comic map, 1978. more or less the same map, 1981.
- Earth-One: The Jersey Shore is 20 miles north of the City, and a "New Jersey airfield" is near. Detective Comics #503, 1981
- New Earth: Atlas of the DC Universe, 1990
- Pre-Zero Hour: an excavation of the "Jersey sector" of Metropolis reveals the Batcave, Legion of Super-Heroes (Volume 4) #11, 1990.
- New Earth: A driver's license in Batman: Shadow of the Bat Annual #1, 1993
- Prime Earth: Batman Secret Files #1: the coordinates in "One" are all in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
- Prime Earth: A map of Metropolis and Gotham, based on the Silver Age locations.
- NY
- New Earth:' an envelope in Year One: Batman/Scarecrow #2 - it's a bit small, the second letter looks more like a Y than a J.

- CT
- Earth-16: Young Justice: "Schooled"
County: Gotham County Vs. Kane County[]
Batman Vol 2 10 states that Gotham City is in Kane County. This is at least the second time I've read this in the New 52. Should the County be updated on the Gotham City page? Goblyn4evil (talk) 22:03, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
- Tough call. Slaughter Swamp typically exists in Gotham County, and it just appeared in All-Star Western (Volume 3) #11. I don't recall any specific mention of Gotham County in AWS, but I feel as though there was one. I don't know what to make of either. - Hatebunny (talk) 22:10, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
- There was a mention of Kane County back in Gotham Central. I'll look up the issue in a moment. --Tupka217 22:21, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
- "Kane County Morgue", Gotham Central #2. --Tupka217 22:29, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
Points of Interest vs. Locations[]
Question, is there a page somewhere or could we create a page somewhere to just list all of the locations of Gotham City? Just a long list with no pictures or descriptions, just all the names alphabetically with the little hyperlinked number sources for the issue pages? I understand that this general Gotham City page is probably not the place for such a big list, because all of the entries for "so and so's apartment" or "unnamed bakery" would wind up quite long, but since the Locations section on the pages for individual comic issues doesn't always have hyperlinks there's really no way to know the complete contents of Gotham City properties unless you read every issue page or comic yourself, whereas if there was a page for that then people could add new locations whenever they find them. - Even on a separate list that article would be way too long considering there is over 80 years of Gotham City. There is no "complete contents of Gotham City properties", writers just make stuff up as the story demands it. --Tupka217 (talk) 14:35, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- Well, okay. But, Isn't the whole point of this website to compile and present info from all those years of comics to the fans and readers? Just, personally I would like to see this information, and where else in the world would I go to find it other than right here?DetrimentalDedication (talk) 14:40, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- There's a difference between compiling notable information and typing out literally just all the information. And while it is a gray area for sure, just a list of thousands of "unnamed bakeries", "apartments", etc. doesn't really reach notable status. Kyletheobald (talk) 14:43, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- That was only 1 example from the comic I was reading TODAY. I meant things like, Harmon Dental and Huntington Convalescent Home from the Under the Red Hood storyline. I mean, I think the convalescent home that wounded Jason Todd recovered in after crawling out of his grave is a significant point of interest. I just wonder why there's a list of everything that is clearly listed on the map that's also on this page (redundant), and why there are locations like Wedgewood Museum that only has 3 issues in its appearances section, but other locations get ignored, thus the idea of a more thorough list. But I'll go with the decision of more experienced editors, thanks for the info. DetrimentalDedication (talk) 14:59, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
