Henry Henshaw and Hank Henshaw[]

As of Action Comics #979 it is uncertain if Henry Henshaw and Hank Henshaw are the same character. They like Eradicator (Prime Earth) and Eradicator II (Prime Earth) could be two totally different characters who just happen to have the same name. It could be some form of retcon.

The important point is until we get conformation either possibility is speculation.--BruceGrubb (talk) 00:55, May 11, 2017 (UTC)

His name is Hank Henshaw, his history with Mingul was brought up, and he's Cyborg Superman. DCLover1995 (talk) 01:12, May 11, 2017 (UTC)

I haven't been following this issue that closely, but I'll chime in anyway.
It's true that either possibility is speculation, but it's safer for us to assume a retcon than to assume a whole 'nother character exists for the sake of filling a plot hole. It's sorta like "innocent until proven guilty", except for us it's "accident until proven intentional". Retcon. --- Haroldrocks talk 02:00, May 11, 2017 (UTC)
As I said before it is far too early to assume a retcon. In fact Eradicator II (Prime Earth) makes references to New Earth events (the "death" of Superman and the Henry Henshaw (New Earth)-Mongul the team up that "almost destroyed all life on Earth"). In fact, this creates more problems as the Hank Henshaw here was off Earth for 10 years...so when did this team up and its results happen in Prime Earth history?
Nevermind that we now have two Cyborg Supermen in the Prime Earth continuity as Zor-El (Prime Earth) is still around (and if his tech is anything like New Earth Henshaw's he isn't going to stay incapacitated forever). We should ask when Mongul says "Cyborg Superman" is he referring to Henry Henshaw or is he mistaking Henshaw for Zor-El because when Zor-El first appeared everyone assumed it was Henry Henshaw (Prime Earth) because his body had died and he had been turned into a giant cyborg monster. (Team 7 (Volume 2) #6). Obviously this cannot be the same Hank Henshaw that first appeared in Team 7 (Volume 2) #5.--BruceGrubb (talk) 00:53, May 12, 2017 (UTC)
The continuity of the New 52 was very disorganized when it began and it still is to some extent. DCLover1995 (talk) 01:35, May 12, 2017 (UTC)
Par for the course as every time DC does one of the universe wide reboots they forget some key detail that comes back to royally mess with continuity. Worse when DC actually tries to address the problem they often make things worse. This is how Earth-85 came about when DC realized there was far more messed up then simply Hawkman and the Legion of Superheroes Post-Crisis.--BruceGrubb (talk) 13:47, May 12, 2017 (UTC)
Steve Orlando confirmed Zor-El isn't the Cyborg Superman anymore, and a panel at the end of "Reign of the Cyborg Supermen" showed his cybernetic parts had been removed. I really hope he doesn't become Cyborg Superman again. I hated that subplot. MektonZ (talk) 20:18, May 15, 2017 (UTC)

Page Splitting[]

As the Henshaw in Team 7 is never actually identified as 'Hank' or 'Henry', just 'Dr. Henshaw', I think that we should fork this into a seperate page, and that listing them as the same character was a mistake to begin with. 'Was a cyborg' and 'has the surname Henshaw' was not sufficient evidence to have them be on one page in the first place. Ømn1 (talk) 22:11, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

Can someone put the image File:Henry Henshaw Prime Earth 004.png or File:Henry Henshaw Prime Earth 005.jpg as the main Image of the page? (better quality) Conner Kennt69 (talk) 22:20, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
