Merge[]

John Wesley Shipp confirmed that The Flash and Stargirl version of Jay Garrick are the same ones. The history of this article should be merged into a Post-Crisis section of Jay Garrick (Arrowverse: Earth-3)'s article.

I've skimmed through it, but must've missed it. Can you highlight the exact part where the pre-COIE Earth-3 Jay is equated to the post-Crisis Earth-2 Flash? --Tupka217 (talk) 17:27, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
DC TV Podcasts: Okay, so just for clarification, because I know myself included and a lot of people have been wondering; the Jay you play on Stargirl, this is the same Jay we’ve been falling for almost eight years now on The Flash, like it’s just on Earth-2?

John Wesley Shipp: The episode establishes the Golden Age Flash as a member of Earth-2’s JSA and with this action I get to be The Flash ambassador who officially brings DC’s Stargirl into the Post-Crisis CWverse.

DC TV Podcasts: That’s what I was assuming happened that some time Post-Crisis in this new history, you lived on Earth-2 and then maybe somehow came to Earth-Prime because when you came back [on The Flash season 7] and a lot of people were like ‘Wait he’s been on this Earth this entire time?’ So this is definitely the same person that we were just seeing him in a different time of his life?

John Wesley Shipp: Yeah! Yes. As I understand it, more will be revealed but as I understand it to this date, yes."

Of course, the authors of both shows have a lot to explain as Jay's history is currently pretty confusing but it is confirmed that he is the same character. Cmanigold 18:43, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

Stress that "a lot". Also, it doesn't explicitly call Pre-COIE Earth-3 Jay post-COIE Earth-2 Jay. This is going to be Constantine all over again, I fear. --Tupka217 (talk) 18:55, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure that his whole history will be explained in a future crossover between the CW shows. Meanwhile, for simplicity, I believe we could merge the two pages and insert a note where it is mentioned this interview. Cmanigold 20:35 6 October 2021 (UTC)
Okay, so clearly this issue can't be resolved until further episodes are released, but I have a real question to ask here, as I'm a bit confused by what we choose to have be articles and what we don't. This version of Jay Garrick clearly is different from the Jay Garrick shown in The Flash right? I mean that version of Jay was from Earth-3. This version of Jay is clearly from Earth-2. Those are two completely separate continuities. So unless he actually remembers both continuities, I think these should be two separate pages.
Here's the thing, we have two separate pages for the Pre-Crisis version of the Joker and the Post-Crisis version of the Joker.
Clearly there is a connection between the two, yet they are distinctly different; as one was captured by Batman and the other was killed by him. Nevertheless, it is clear that their Earths parallel each other, it's just that one was destroyed with the old multiverse and the other one still exists. It's obvious the Earth that Joker died in is the one that exists in the new multiverse.
Anyway, if we treat them as separate, why not the same with this? Now granted I say this only if Jay had no memory of his previous life on Earth-3. If he did remember that, then we should merge them, otherwise I don't think it's a good idea. It makes for a very muddy read in my opinion.---Noah Tall (talk) 11:02, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
Let's keep them separate for now. --Tupka217 (talk) 11:50, 8 October 2021 (UTC)

Merge Redux[]

Okay so Shawn McBee of the Stargirl Aftershow, also the head of canon for Stargirl, recently tweeted out a part of the script from Jay's Season Two appearance that explicitly identifies him as the same Jay from The Flash. Could we now have the pages merged? (https://twitter.com/StargirlPod/status/1599914920002588674) TheDemon08 (talk) 00:04, 9 December 2022 (UTC)

Earth-3, technically. But fine. Tag it for a merge.--Tupka217 (talk) 06:11, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
The Original and the New Multiverses are not the same, Jay is from Earth-3 Pre-Crisis and Earth-2 Post-Crisis. TheDemon08 (talk) 22:21, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
Tupka, why have you removed the merge templates from the two pages without going ahead with it? TheDemon08Talk 15:50, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
Because I really don't know anymore and this is a mess and I hate everyone involved in these shows. They can't even get their own story straight. --Tupka217 (talk) 17:42, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you're referring to here? Everyone has been very clear on the Jay situation. He is the same character on both The Flash and Stargirl. The Stargirl 2x09 script says it, the Stargirl head of canon says it, the actor says it, no one contradicts it. In the Original Multiverse, he was born on Earth-3 and occasionally travelled to Earth-1. In the New Multiverse, he was born of Earth-2 and moved to Earth-Prime. TheDemon08Talk 18:36, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
How does this even work in the timeline? Stargirl didn't even exist yet when original Jay appeared. Also, this article needs more content for his season 2 appearances.
S!Jay was believed dead in 2010. But F!Jay traveled the Multiverse after 2010 and returned to his home world, where he had a very public battle with the Trickster. That contradicts each other. Does season 2 explains this? --Tupka217 (talk) 19:05, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
It was never explained on Stargirl why and when he and his wife moved to Earth-Prime but they arrived there some time before even Barry Allen became Flash in the Post-Crisis Multiverse; after the Crisis, his battle with Trickster probably never happened as he only returns to Earth-2 in the future. In The Flash, Jay's Nora's Future counterpart explained that he fought in the Golden Age along other heroes, hinting to his past (or future adventures) on Earth-2. --Cmanigold 19:18, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
Hey just to let you know Cmanigold, Tupka has authorised me to merge the pages following a conversation on Discord between us and the Stargirl head of canon. TheDemon08Talk 19:34, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
