1948 or 1985?[]
Is Tetch supposed to be an exclusively Earth-One character? His first appearance was in the 1940s, yet Mad Hatter lists no Earth-Two version and claims 1985 as the time of his first appearance. LuisDantas (talk) 02:55, September 19, 2016 (UTC)
- Where does it say his first appearance was 1985? - The Hatter debuted in 1948 as a one-off character in one Batman story. That was his only appearance for years until writers in the 80s started to bring back old characters from the golden age, specially villains. That's when this version of the Mad Hatter reappeared, even though during the Silver Age there was another Mad Hatter. When this version returned to comics, nothing was much altered and the character remained consistent throughout his entire comic career, including the Post-Crisis continuity until Flashpoint. That's the reason why this character doesn't have Earth-Two or Earth-One counterparts. He has remained the same and the stories that took place on those earths are assumed to be part of the character's canon history, to some degree. - S.S. (talk) 03:08, September 19, 2016 (UTC)
- The Mad Hatter article presents the default version of the character as being that of the Modern Age, and that results in a publication range of 1985-2011. That was probably unintentional, but is still the current situation. LuisDantas (talk) 07:52, September 19, 2016 (UTC)
- More to the point, currently no version of the character is shown to have been published before 1985. That is of course inaccurate. LuisDantas (talk) 08:16, September 19, 2016 (UTC)
- As you said, it is completely unintentional. The infobox was configured this way considering that it works for almost every other character that has been reintroduced in the new continuity. However, this should not be a problem since the description of the character clearly indicates the character's first appearance.
Edit: and as you can see, it's an easy fix. - S.S. (talk) 17:11, September 19, 2016 (UTC)

Way to be. LuisDantas (talk) 21:47, September 19, 2016 (UTC)
