Columbia is NOT a gender reversed Uncle Sam[]

Columbia is the goddess of liberty and the personification of America that was succeeded by Brother Jonathan who was in turn succeeded by Uncle Sam. In fact, in the Vertigo comic U.S. #2 Uncle Sam and Columbia (Bea) have a long talk.

Even though Brother Jonathan and Uncle Sam were competing (and therefore separate) male personifications of the US ([1] and [2], DC considers them variants of the some being (Spectre (Volume 3) #37)--BruceGrubb (talk) 13:18, October 20, 2017 (UTC)

The Columbia of Earth-11 was the gender-flipped Uncle Sam. Whatever happened in U.S. is irrelevant to that reality. --Tupka217 13:57, October 20, 2017 (UTC)
Just because she lead the Earth-11 Freedom Fighters does not mean she is a gender reversed Uncle Sam. If anything the gender reversal nature of Earth-11 means that Columbia should be male and there should have been an Aunt Samantha running around. Everything else about that world (including Darkseid) was gender swapped with the names altered to fit the gender aka Dane for Diana, Maxine Lord for Maxwell Lord, and so on. A female Columbia on Earth-11 sticks out like a sore thumb.--BruceGrubb (talk) 15:49, October 20, 2017 (UTC)
The writers decided the genderflipped version of Uncle Sam as leader of the Freedom Fighters was Columbia. That's all there's to it. --Tupka217 15:57, October 20, 2017 (UTC)
In the context of the whole gender switch thing it just comes off as "wrong". Besides Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters Vol 1 made just what Uncle Sam was confusing as all get out and effectively tied him to the vertigo version.--BruceGrubb (talk) 16:41, October 20, 2017 (UTC)
Just a gender flipped Uncle Sam using a preexisting name. --Khajidha (talk) 17:43, October 20, 2017 (UTC)
Going back to Superman/Batman #24 there are other hiccups in the naming of people on Earth-11 so the gender reversal of names isn't constant. Ironically, Earth-One's Mxyzptlk was more constant on his name reversal.--BruceGrubb (talk) 12:36, October 21, 2017 (UTC)
