Synopsis for "Tangent: Superman's Reign - Chapter 6"

On Earth-9, Batman is breaking into the Core, the information hub for the entire planet. By knocking out the guards and using one of them on the retina scanner, he is able to gain access to the main console room. As he enters, he remembers talking to Spectre, Plastic Man and Green Lantern about the state of the world. Despite the obvious good to this world, the heroes want to bring down the government. And although Batman does not want to get involved in their struggle, his friends have been caught and are probably still kept alive by the Superman... for a time, anyway. Since they cannot convince him, Spectre makes an offhand remark about the Core - only for Batman to decide to go there.

In the console room, Batman meets Halo, a woman connected directly to the computer. He introduces himself as "a humble man with questions", and asks what happened to bring the Superman to power. She tells Batman about Harvey Dent's origin in the superhuman research of the Nightwing agency, how he used his powers to help people. Though his powers were expanding, he remained human through the influence of his wife Lola, until he developed a pill to give her his powers. When the Ultra-Humanite struck the world, shutting down power stations and destroying armies and governments and cities, the Superman stopped the monster. Then he led the way in reconstructing civilization: wrecked cities rebuilt, disease combated, humanity united as never before. Halo points out that, while the Superman is a dictator, he is at least a benevolent one.

When Batman asks at the fate of Lola Dent, Halo becomes silent. Powergirl is now Superman's significant other. However, Halo knows more than she shows - for example, she already knows that Batman is from another world. At that moment, intruder alarms go off in the building.

At Taylor Pike apartment in Moone Tower, the Tangent heroes are worrying on the fate of Batman. Suddenly, they are contacted by a man named Sir William, who asks them to gather together in preparation for a strike against the Superman. Sir William's contacts include Hex, who is still leading Lori Lemaris through New Atlantis. Lori is amazed that her friends are still alive, and wants to help, but when Spectre pulls out a Joker costume for her, she becomes angry: she spent ten years in prison over the costume, and Mary Marvel died wearing it. The anarchic, humorous nature the Joker calls for is no longer hers to give. The heroes understand, and hex has an idea. But Sir William calls on them to hurry - Batman is fighting his way out of the Core, and this could attract the Superman in a hurry. They will move immediately to The Castle.

At the Core, Batman jumps out a window with three guards close behind him. He manages to disable two before landing safely, but he is saved from the third... by the Batman of Earth-9. The two men fight, but when they are cornered, the Tangent hero grabs Batman's wrist and flies away, teleported mere seconds later to The Castle, a mystic stronghold under a red sky. Its magical nature means the Superman cannot find it, and that means it is the hideout for a group of heroes called the Outsiders...

Synopsis for "History Lesson - Chapter 6"

At the Nightwing base, Guy has decided to say no more. Despite Jennifer's questions about the Green Lantern, Guy refuses to co-operate. However, when the chauffeur pull a gun on him, he decides to speak up: Green Lantern's mission revolves around helping the dead to fulfill their unfinished business through a one-time temporary resurrection. She has few other undefined magic powers but little is known about her, not even her name.

Her origin is also unknown. One possible stories is that she was archeologist adventurer Lois Lane, left for dead in the waters where Florida used to be. There she was met by some force (angels, mermaids, or something far stranger), and was called to her duties by the dead of the state of Florida. Another story claims that two sisters battled over occult power, and when the good sister won, she trapped all the energy in the lantern. Yet a third story says she was the sorceress Zatanna, tasked to recover the Lantern from the undead pirate Jason Blood by the Dark Circle.

Further stories go that the power of the Green Lantern come from outside the universe itself, and that during the Crisis, the Lantern was trapped in that other world, but Guy does not believe these. What is known is that since then the Green Lantern has been missing, and only recently became active again.

Jennifer considers this enough, and tells the chauffeur to put away the gun - an example, she says, of what happens when he co-operates. She explains that her organization is working to bring down Superman... and Guy is going to help them...
