Tawny is tiger who resides in the Philadelphia Zoo.
History
He shares a special bond with the adolescent Billy Batson, who would eventually gain the powers of the wizard Shazam, turning him into the champion of magic.
When Billy was under attack by the disgraced champion Black Adam, Tawny tried to help him but was easily defeated by the villain. Fearing for his old friend's life, Billy imbued Tawny with the power of Shazam, turning Tawny into his magical familiar. However due to his desperation, Billy had cast the spell incorrectly, soon reverting Tawny to his original form.
Powers and Abilities
Powers
- Tiger Physiology: Tawky Tawny is a tiger and as such has all the same physical attributes.
- Claws: Tawny has razor sharp claws which he uses to slice into his prey.
- Enhanced Senses: As a tiger, Tawny's senses are far superior to humans, as they use them in hunting prey.
- Fangs: Tawny has fangs to cut into the meat and bone of his prey.
- Divine Empowerment: When Tawny was injured in a battle with Black Adam he was granted the The Power of Shazam! by Billy Batson. When he was included into the family, the others grew weaker but granted Tawny enough strength to defend the only family he has.[1]
- Superhuman Strength: Tawny, as a tiger, can strike with much more force than a human. Empowered by magic, he tore into Black Adam's shoulders causing him severe pain.[1]
- Size Alteration: Empowered by magic, Tawny grew to be much larger than his usual self which added to his strength.[1]
