Claymore, Bullet and some of the German recruits are to plant tank traps on the north-south road leading to the village, given that there are deep woods and marshes on opposite side of the road. Near the frozen river, Backlash, Cowboy, and Deadeye defend against the Russians. One of the recruits, Ernst who is befriended by Backlash, runs out on the river with a landmine and is kill by the gunfire before throwing the mine across the river which it explodes, thus breaking up the river and delaying the Russians.

Back at Karlshagen, some of the German recruits that came with Bullet and Claymore, retreat to where Deathblow is. They inform him of the situation at the north-south road. After hearing this, Deathblow hopes that Bullet will make it back.
