Ted Grant was a boxer and trainer who briefly acted as the vigilante Wildcat.
History
Darkseid created the Absolute Universe to be a world where heroes were the underdogs, and lacked the advantages of their Earth 0 counterparts. A major part of this was erasing the legacy of the Golden Age of heroes which inspired them. Throughout the mid-20th Century whenever a costumed adventurer or mystery man rose up they would be swiftly dealt with by the powers that be, and are long forgotten by the present day.
In 1942, Grant was framed for murder by a group of small-time hoods. Taking the identity Wildcat, Grant was able to clear his name and continued to fight crime around his neighbourhood in Gotham City. He worked his way up the criminal food chain, until on a stakeout he overheard a factory inspector take a bribe to look the other way on safety standards not being met in a factory which was manufacturing chemical weapons for the war. The munitions magnate who owned the factory offered him fifty thousand dollars in cash not to reveal the corruption and cease his vigilante activities. Ted took the money, opened a gym in upstate New York and went on to train several champion boxers. He died in his sleep at the age of 81.[1]
