Ted Grant was a one time famous boxer and he maintained a costumed crime fighting identity as Wildcat.
History
Ted Grant had retired from boxing and was living in obscurity, living the poor life out of a Gotham City flop house until he was hired by Bruce Wayne to help coach his team participating in the World Youth games in Austria. This encounter revived Ted's sense of self worth and led to a revival of his career as Wildcat.[1] As a result of his return, Wildcat teamed-up with Batman in several occasions.[2][3] During one of these team-ups, Wildcat was forced to fight Batman, as the Joker blackmailed them with destroying the only available antidote to save an entire prison, which had been poisoned by the madman. Eventually the heroes retrieved the antidote and captured the Joker.[4]
Wildcat teamed-up with the Creeper to go to San Lorenzo to rescue the boxer. The Creeper punched Proteus which caused him to release the boxer and fall from the catwalk. Wildcat saw the boxer was about to fall to his death and saved him. The Creeper exposed President Borges who had planned the scheme and knocked him out. Wildcat was impressed that the Creeper had good moves.[5] On his team-up with Batman, having sworn off fighting after accidentally killing an opponent in the boxing ring during his second comeback, he retired and worked as the sole owner of a spa in the Caribbean. Wildcat and Batman team-up for the second time and stopped an illegal immigrant smuggling racket.[6]
