Synopsis for "One Brief, Shining Moment, Part I"
A mysterious group triggered a bomb powerful enough to simulate a nuke, but without any fallout effect. Their target was a secret vault where inventions connected to "Operation: Paperclip" were stored: after World War II, the United States integrated many of the best Nazi scientists in their programs and some of those men created machines that scared even the american government. Shutting down those programs and sealing the inventions in a nearly-impenetrable vault, now someone is trying to break in.
This mysterious group wants to activate a device they nicknamed "The Eraser" to make the whole of Manhattan disappear into nothingness: at first, Manchester Black is not too preoccupied as he knows it would take weeks before the device can be properly activated and then triggered, but the enemy the Titans are currently questioning seems to be of another opinion, and soon Black realizes that they did something he thought impossibile to make the device ready right now.
As Black explains they must have found another device capable of freezing time thanks to arcane magic, as the scientists of the Paperclip program were free to experiment with virtually anything, the enemy activates the freezing device and only Raven, thanks to her magical nature, and Beast Boy, who transformed himself into a life-form that lives a lot faster than humans, currently can act. They must stop the terrorists before they are able to prepare and activate the Eraser. Succeeding in doing that and bringing the rest of the Titans with them after deactivating the time-freezing device, the young group of teen superheroes once again saved the day.
As Black and Josiah Power once again talk about the amazing actions of the Titans, with Power more and more convinced about the alliance Black wants to make, the leader of the terrorists escapes while Tim and Manchester talk about what Black said earlier: this device was only the second most-dangerous thing coming out from Paperclip, and Tim wants to know what's at the top of the list.
