Synopsis for "Wipeout"
SMASH HQ in Washington, DC: The military outlines the ongoing crisis - the local phenomenon (electrical devices becoming non-functional)around the Grand Canyon that began the previous week has spread to a Null Zone westwards to Las Vegas, then to California. Projections place the country at risk in two days, the planet within a week. Survivors spoke of monsters and demons.
Senator Tallis asked for SMASH's opinion on possible causes. Various theories are mentioned. One, involving Dr. X, is considered testable enough to follow up on. The Liberator seems to be in operational command.
Halford and Betty meet Diana and Carol at The Four Comrades, in part to examine the Grim Reaper's sword as a possible murder weapon of Lance Lewis. Carol again sees her father's spirit in a mirror. Betty suggests contacting the Green Ghost for help.
Back in Invertica, Tim and the Terror discuss the situation.
The Green Ghost tells them that they need to locate Tom Strange for help. Carol knows his secret HQ is in New Lancaster. Arriving at Strangelands, they are accosted by security robots. Luckily Carol knows the password and they gain entry to the lab. Finding Strange's copy of Tom Strong's hypersaucer and his Alosun potion, they set off to Antarctica, based on Halford's location powers.
The Terror interrupts a gang fight while SMASH makes their way to the Grand Canyon when the science based members fall from the sky. The Terror collapses while fighting the gang and the skeletrons deactivate. Reappearing in the lab, the Terror calls for Tim to get the files on everybody.
