The Texas Ranger Division is a paramilitary law enforcement organization dedicated to preserving peace and public safety in Texas.
History
The Rangers were informally organized by Stephen F. Austin in 1823, and were formally constituted in 1835 by the Provisional Government of Texas. The Division is independent of both the State Police and the National Guard, and its duties combine elements of both.
