Thaal Sinestro was a member of the Green Lantern Corps before going rogue after learning that the Flash could change history and save his deceased wife Arin Sur.

History

Sinestro battled his brother-in-law Abin Sur on Earth, having been told that Abin needed to die in order for his vision to come true, and cut off Abin's hand in the process. However, Abin's willpower was stronger than Sinestro could imagine, and Abin's ring reattached his hand to his wrist to defeat and detain Sinestro.
