Thaddeus Ryerstad (New Earth)

Tad Ryerstad was Nite-Wing, a self proclaimed vigilante of Bludhaven. He'd prowl the streets every day and deal 'justice' to those who do wrong. In reality, Tad is a thug who never listens to reason and merely beats often innocent people. He spent his spare time reading comics that "The Tarantula" had sold to him, thus causing him to take upon the title of "Nite-Wing".

History

Born in a hospital in Budhaven, Tad's early life was full of violence as his father, Randy unable to endure baby Tad's crying lashed out, hitting Tad's mom. To escape from his home life, Tad began reading comic books, regularly wishing real life was like a comic. His mom spent her time on the phone, talking and smoking while his dad was a fence, selling goods that one day got him arrested with Tad's mom angry at what was going on. A few days later, his dad returned home and got into a fight with Tad's mom, resulting in the police being called. Tad would go to shops and steal comic books, noting his mom had already given him a beating for stealing from her pocketbook. During one time, he met a classmate who bullied him, resulting in Tad's pants being stolen, Tad noting while he could take a beating, he couldn't stand being laughed at. Tad vowed he'd punish anyone who hurt or laughed at him. Tad learnt his dad was working for the cops. One night, he sent Johnny Zap an anonymous message informing him of the truth. Randy was later caught and placed into a barrel of cement which the gangsters pushed off a pier, killing him. A while later, Tad's mom was arrested despite her claiming not to know anything about her husband's dealings. With his mom in prison and his father dead, Tad wound up in foster care but was later discovered to be having rage issues, the placements short-lived.

Trivia

In Nightwing Secret Files and Origins #1, Tad's age is listed as 18.
