Synopsis for "Wildcats"

Jenny Quantum talks with this Earth's Jenny Sparks as they try to figure out what to do against this Earth's regime led by an alternate version of The Engineer and The Doctor. The alternate Midnighter doesn't want to rescue Apollo, but the mainstream Midnighter does. Finally, the mainstream Engineer realizes that this Authority must have a Carrier and that means they have a Baby Universe powering it.

The alternate Jack Hawksmoor and Engineer discuss the abduction of Apollo and how it could affect them. The Engineer tells him they could use it to their advantage.

The alternate Swift and Doctor argue about their captured Apollo. Swift is upset because this Doctor has made it remain Dec. 30th 1999 indefinitely because he does not want the Spirit of the 21st Century to appear. Swift mentions she's starting to lose it because of repeating this day and suddenly the Doctor smacks her in the face, killing her.

The Doctor, Habib bin Hassan, and Midnighter use a Shift-Door that the Doctor rigged in order to break Apollo out of his prison. But the alternate Doctor catches them and tries to stop them. The Doctor's minions are too slow and Midnighter is able to work out a strategy to beat them all. The alternate Doctor tries to escape by using the Door in the room but it only leads him to the alternate Jack Hawksmoor.

After killing the alternate Doctor, the alternate Hawksmoor has the alternate Engineer verify that this Doctor is the real one. They then try to figure out how and why this Doctor got send to their base. Just then, a broadcast featuring the alternate Doctor is being broadcast. It's obvious it's Habib in disguise because he is calling for a cease-fire for this war between the factions.

Due to the alternate Doctor's death, time begins to move normally again and the alternate Jenny Sparks dies. The alternate Midnighter wants to take out the alternate Hawksmoor and Engineer for this but a tearful Jenny Quarx begs him not to. She tells him that he's a father now because this Earth now has a Jenny Quantum and he must find her.

The declaration of peace has the opposite effect. Both sides engage in a world-wide mass attack against each other. The alternate Midnighter laments about this questionable decision the mainstream Authority made. He knows that they went after the Baby Universe after all but doesn't know if they made it (although the images show that they did). He stands on a hillside wondering if every version of The Authority is as self-absorbed and as self-centered as the mainstream Authority was. As he holds the alternate Jenny Quantum in his arms he figures that's probably true.
