Synopsis for "The Clayface of Tragedy"
Ethans's skin melts, much to his horror. He tries calling for help, but is unable to due to his vocal cords being affected with clay. He goes outside begging for help, which scares the citizens. Two cops come to stop him, but fail, forcing them to call for back up. At the Batcave, Bruce is thinking about Ethan's recent events, and Alfred recommends him to go sleep. Before he does so, the Batwave goes off and Batman hears the back up call. Batman heads out. Back up then arrives, with firefighters. They spray at Clayface, and he melts away into the sewer, all of which Batman was observing. Batman follows to the sewers and uses ultraviolet to locate Clayface, In front of the GCPD Headquarters, Rojas makes a public speech and boasts about how effective the GCPD have been recently. He finishes the speech with claiming that Batman will be unmasked, and the cops then leave. Batman follows the trail to the GCPD. At Rojas' office, Clayface attacks him, and then Batman comes to stop him. Clayface then escapes and Batman goes after him. Yin and a cop then come to the office, and Rojas tells them to bring Batman and Clayface in. Batman catches up to Clayface. They fight, and Ethan throws him to an edge, then prepares to attack.
Batman dodges the attack and they fight until the police arrive. They both escape, with Batman taking a sample. Yin tells to warn Rojas to keep his guard on. Back at the Batcave, Bruce is investigating the sample, until it runs away. Clayface then goes back to his apartment, and concentrates and shifts back into Ethan. Yin comes to check in on him, and he tells her that he needs a break. Alfred and Bruce search for the sample, and Bruce then uses ultraviolet to locate its trail, which leads to behind Alfred. It attacks him, so Bruce freezes it and takes it off. Bruce then connects the dots and realizes Ethan is Clayface; he suits up. At the chief's apartment, Yin comes in, who is revealed to be Clayface, and he abducts him.
Yin calls Bruce and tells him how Ethan hasn't been himself lately. She then realizes that Ethan literally hasn't been himself after what the Joker did to him. Both go after him. Yin sheds a tear at the upsetting realization. She then goes to Rojas' apartment, much to the 2 cops' confusion. She finds that Clayface already got here and she busts in. Outside, the 2 cops spot an unfamiliar cop, who turns out to be Clayface, with Rojas kidnapped. He quickly defeats them and leaves when Yin comes. Yin calls for back up, which Batman listens to via the Batwave. Both then realize he's headed for the old East Gotham Gym. They both get there. Ethan tries to kill Rojas, but Batman prevents him. He frees Rojas from Clayface. They then fight, and Ethan then throws him in the showers. Batman tries using the water to his advantage, however the water there wasn't always the strongest. Clayface goes for the kill, but Yin convinces him to not cross that line. Clayface is surprised that Yin is defending Batman. Ethan cries not knowing what's become of them. He escapes to the sewers. She goes to unmask Batman, but she then changes her mind, much to Batman's surprise. She tells that Ethan was right: Gotham needs Batman. Batman warns her that she could lose her badge, and gives her a communicator in case she ever needed him. He then disappears. Next morning, Bruce and Yin are talking at a café. Bruce tells that she'll probably get a new partner, but she already got one. They then spot Ethan outside, until he vanishes. They then ponder the fact that he could be anywhere, and anyone.
