Synopsis for "The Icy Depths"
At an auction, people are bidding over a 19th century expensive umbrella. Penguin appears and steal the umbrella, only to be met by Batman, who defeats him quickly. Mr. Freeze then shows up and grabs the umbrella from Penguin.
Freeze gets out a window and makes an ice bridge. Batman engages with him in a fight, tempting Freeze to freeze the umbrella in its place until he is done. During the fight, the umbrella breaks free, which leaves prints on the ice blocks. Penguin frees himself from Freeze's ice and then runs after the umbrella. Freeze takes the blocks and breaks the bridge, then runs away. Batman and Penguin land down. Penguin tries finding the umbrella but with no luck, so he flees. The umbrella is revealed to have been swiped by a man driving away. Next morning, someone rings the bell at Wayne Manor. Alfred opens the door and is met by the man who took the umbrella, his old friend Ewan. Ewan states he came to the manor to find one of the only copies of a rare book he needs. Unbeknownst to them, one of Penguin's birds is spying on them. At the meantime, Freeze put together the blocks then fills them with clay. He then breaks the block, which results in a replica of the umbrella's handle, which has a code on it. Ewan is seen reading from the book he sought, and deviously steals a page. He departs to find an artifact, and Alfred goes with him. Ewan tells they are looking for a treasure stolen from the royal palace by the Cobblepots. At the Batcave, Bruce is analyzing the umbrella, and finds a map for Gotham's old utility tunnels. Ewan tells Alfred that Chesterfield Cobblepot stole the treasure in 1879, then hid it here. Penguin shows up behind them.
As Bruce finds out that Ewan stole a page, Alfred's calls via the Batwave. Penguin then takes the umbrella from Ewan and opens a door, but only finds a pedestal. He finds on it nothing but a tiny glass square. Ewan closes the door and locks him up. Ewan uses the square Penguin threw and puts it in the umbrella, then shines light through it, which reveals the actual location of the treasure. Penguin blasts the door and breaks free. Ewan gives Alfred the umbrella, then they split up. Penguin catches Ewan and asks him where the treasure is. Alfred then meets Freeze, who asks him where the treasure is. Later at a lighthouse, Alfred points a beam of light towards an old cathedral's bell, which then reflects to the Statue of Justice and finally jumps to the Gotham Clocktower. The beam reflecting across the four monuments forms an X that marks the spot, the middle of the harbor. Penguin rushes in with Ewan in a boat. Ewan reveals that Chesterfield sank his schooner rather than let the treasure be captured by American authorities, and that he used landmarks to fix its location. Right as Penguin is about to dive, Freeze freezes the water. Alfred tries to break from the ice, which results in the Batwave phone falling in water. Batman, in the Batboat, sees it falling and heads up, but the Batboat is unable to penetrate the ice. As Freeze finishes, he jumps in a hole to go find the treasure, and Penguin follows him.
The Batboat generates enough heat to break out of the ice. Batman jumps out of it and frees Alfred. Batman goes after Freeze and Penguin. Despite Batman instructing Ewan to stay where he is, he goes after the treasure. Penguin finds the shipwreck and goes inside, only to find that Freeze already found the treasure. Penguin shoots Freeze with a flamethrower, which temporarily puts him down. Batman steps in, and the three fight each other. Ewan meanwhile sneaks in and helps himself to the treasure, with Alfred behind him. The ice begins to shatter as the water flows through. Batman escapes with Ewan and Alfred, but the villains refuse and continue fighting. The water rushes in on them like a tidal wave. Afterwards, the cops pull them out of the water.
