The Batman and Robin Adventures #14 is an issue of the series The Batman and Robin Adventures (Volume 1) with a cover date of January, 1997.

Synopsis for "Dagger's Tale"

"Dagger" Dixon tells fellow in-mate Billy Wallace the story of why he has a Batman tattoo on his arm.

Dagger used to work as the muscle for a loan shark, and was about to hurt Tony Moreno for not paying up when Batman caught him and he was sentenced to prison. However, he only had thoughts for revenge and broke out of a police van along with another prisoner. They climbed up onto a building but had nowhere to go, so they started fighting each other. Dagger was about to be shot, but Batman swooped in and saved him. Ungratefully, Dagger tried to exact revenge on Batman but was easily defeated and had another six years added to his sentence.

Dagger explains that the Batman tattoo is for humility, to remind him that he can't win every fight because there will always be someone stronger.
