"The Legion of Super-Outlaws!": This story is reprinted from Adventure Comics #324.

The Best of DC #57 is an issue of the series The Best of DC (Volume 1) with a cover date of February, 1985. It was published on November 1, 1984.

Synopsis for "The Legion of Super-Outlaws!"

This story is reprinted from Adventure Comics #324.

Marden King -- brother of the deceased Jungle-King, a rejected Legion applicant -- is plotting revenge against the Legion over his brothers death. Locating the planet Lallor, he learns that a nuclear explosion on that world had granted five of it's young people super powers. However the leader of Lallor, fearing what the young people could do, has them exiled from the planet.

Seizing this opportunity, Marden contacts the space-bound Heroes of Lallor and convinces them to go after the Legion of Super-Heroes, whom he convinces the Heroes of Lallor that they are evil. This is all a plot to get a hold of the Legion's clubhouse and the scientific devices therein. While this initially succeeds, both groups of super-teens learn the truth.

When the Heroes of Lallor try to stop Marden, he threatens them with a device that will eliminate their powers. However, the timely intervention of Superboy foils this plot. With Marden defeated, the Legion take the Heroes of Lallor back to their home planet, and convince the people there to take the Heroes of Lallor back and make them their worlds champions.

Shrinking Violet and Duplicate Boy fell in love and were a couple for some years to come.

Synopsis for "Lex Luthor Meets the Legion of Super-Heroes!"

This story is reprinted from Adventure Comics #325.

While capturing the criminal brain Arto from the planet Kahnn, Matter-Eater Lad and Triplicate Girl intercept a mysterious space craft. Landing near the Legion club house with the mystery ship, the two Legionaries are shocked to find that it is piloted by Lex Luthor. A Luthor with a full head of hair that claims to be from a time before he became Superboy's arch-nemesis.

Luthor has come to ask the Legion to help him from becoming evil, however the Legion is unaware that this is really the evil Luthor who has come to the 30th Century to defeat Superboy and his allies. Using his disintegration ray (really a Phantom Zone Projector) he manages to fool most of the Legion members and banish them to the Phantom Zone before they can stop him.

However, Luthor does not anticipate that Mon-El spent a long time in the Phantom Zone and is able to subliminally influence Luthor into releasing the Legion. The Legion then swiftly defeat Luthor on live television, and destroy his Phantom Zone gun. The defeated and humiliated Luthor manages escape back to his own time, to plot anew.

Synopsis for "The Revolt of the Girl Legionnaires!"

This story is reprinted from Adventure Comics #326.

Saturn Girl has called together all the female members of the Legion of Super-Heroes to betray the male members. Phantom Girl, Triplicate Girl, Light Lass, Shrinking Violet, and Supergirl all join Saturn Girl on their crusade to defeat all the male members. Using their feminine charm to lull the male members into a sense of false security, each female member manages to easily defeat each male member they charm.

After all the male Legionnaires are defeated, the girls party until they're called by Queen Azura from the planet Femnaz. She explains that after the men on her world were deemed week, she and her people decided to target the male members of the Legion of Super-Heroes believing them to be just as weak. She then used special hypnosis devices to convince the female Legion members to join in this cause.

However, the Queen realized the error of her ways when Mon-El and Ultra-Boy saved one of Femnaz's moons, and thus releases the female Legion members from her control. The female members then revive and save their male counterparts and after all is explained, they make peace.

Synopsis for "The Lone Wolf Legionnaire!"

This story is reprinted from Adventure Comics #327.

While stopping rampaging animals from an interplanetary zoo, Light Lass and Brainiac 5 meet a super-powered teen named Lone Wolf who uses his talents to help them stop the carnage. When they offer him membership in the Legion of Super-Heroes, he declines, stating that he is a lone wolf in practice as well as in name.

When a series of crimes lead the Legion to believe that Lone Wolf is responsible, they try to take him in, in spite of the fact that Light Lass is smitten by him. When they finally catch up with Lone Wolf, they are caught in a dimensional vortex. When they free themselves, Lone Wolf explains to Light Lass that he isn't human before fleeing and the other Legionnaires deduce that he's an android.

Tracing the origins of Lone Wolf to the planet Zoon, they find Brin Londo who explains that Lone Wolf is an android named Karth Arn and is evil. However, the Legion soon realizes that "Brin Londo" is really Karth and after defeating him they learn that Karth usurped Brin Londo's identity (Brin turns out to be Lone Wolf) and framing him for the crimes he's committed. With the truth revealed, Lone Wolf agrees to join the Legion, but hopes find a new name.

Synopsis for "The Lad Who Wrecked the Legion!"

This story is reprinted from Adventure Comics #328.

The Legion are brought to the attention of a super-powered teen called Command Kid who can create convincing hallucinations. They invite him into the group, and he accepts. However the Legion begins to be put off by his arrogant attitude, and his tendency to use his powers to stir up trouble.

However, when Star Boy wishes he had more impressive powers, Command Kid promises to be able to deliver and gives him a pill that is supposed to give him better powers. This however only puts him in a coma, and when he tricks other Legion members into doing the same thing, he reveals his true intentions: To kill the Legion.

Saturn Girl and Element Lad stumble upon this plot, and realize that Command Kid's weakness is to gold. Element Lad uses his powers to make gold which knocks Command Kid unconscious. Reviving their comrades, they learn that Command Kid was possessed by a demon on his home planet, and this was the source of his power and his evil. With it's host defeated, the demon leaves Command Kid's boy and flees into space. Later when Command Kid revives, he apologizes for the trouble he caused and leaves the Legion so that he may return to his home planet.

Synopsis for "The Bizarro-Legion!"

This story is reprinted from Adventure Comics #329.

During a regular meeting of the Legion of Super-Heroes (where Brainiac 5 unveils new flight rings for the Legion to replace their flight belts), the attending members are interrupted by the arrival of Bizarro Superboy. Bizarro Superboy has come to the 30th Century seeking membership in the Legion of Super-Heroes. Naturally, the Legion rejects him from their ranks and he returns to his home world.

On Bizarro-World, Bizarro Superboy decides that if he cannot be a part of the Legion of Super-Heroes, then he will make his own Bizarro-Legion. Using his duplicator machine, he creates Bizarro versions of Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, Invisible Kid, Chameleon Boy, Cosmic Boy, Ultra-Boy, and Mon-El to be his Bizarro-Legion.

As with anything Bizarro, the Bizarro-Legion is a perverted "opposite" version of the actual Legion of Super-Heroes. The group goes out into space and completes missions that are considered good in terms of Bizarro logic, but causes nothing but chaos. When confronted by the real Legion, who demands they disband. Bizarro Superboy decides to agree on one condition: That the real Superboy crush a large diamond into coal. Superboy surprisingly is able to accomplish this feat, and the Bizarro-Legion now "rich" in coal, agrees to disband and return to Bizarro-World. Afterwards when the Legion is confused as to how Superboy was able to turn diamond back into coal, Element Lad reveals that he gave them a helping hand in order to trick the Bizarro's into disbanding their Legion.
