Synopsis for "You Can’t Cheat Death"
Escape artist Shilo Norman is set to perform the a perilous escape as Mister Miracle for charity where he is strapped to a missile when he suddenly has a vision of the Black Racer. The personification of Death for the New Gods, the Racer was given the body of Viet Nam War veteran Willie Walker decades ago and is now hunting Mister Miracle, indicating that he is likely to die during this stunt. When the Racer materializes, Shilo's consciousness splits into a second entity, flying on Aero-Discs over Las Vegas. He cannot outrun the Racer but he manages to steal one of his skis and flies away on a Boom Tube several centuries in the future. In this apocalyptic wasteland, beastmen fight in rubble and Shilo is intercepted by Brother Eye and OMAC. The second Shilo reappears in the present day, second before he is set to die in the stunt and realizes that his rig was sabotaged by stage magician Genolan to win a bet.
