Synopsis for Batman and Wildcat: "Dead Man's Quadrangle"
When Batman becomes aware of a illegal immigrant smuggler named El Zapatero who smuggles illegals into the country by any (and often fatal) means possible, Batman decides to investigate further and put it to an end. He learns that the rallying point is the island Key Allegro, part of what's called the Devil's Quadrangle. The Quadrangle is reputed to be cursed and many planes and ships have been lost at sea there. Further, the legend tells that one often hears distress calls from previously sunk vessels in the area. In spite of this, Batman decides to check things out and to see if his old friend Ted Grant -- who now operates a health-spa on the island -- knows anything about the illegals that El Zapatero smuggles through there.
When Batman flies there, he meets Hannibal Kingsley, a writer known most famously for his extensive writings about the Devil's Quadrangle. After the plane almost crashes (attributed to the curse), Batman meets up with Ted Grant who is shocked to learn that smugglers are using his island as a staging ground. After saving a potential illegal immigrant from a shark, Ted agrees to help Batman crack the smuggling ring as Wildcat.
Disguising himself as an potential illegal, Ted Grant gets taken aboard El Zapatero's ship. There he changes into Wildcat and with the help of Batman learn that El Zapatero is really Hannibal Kingsley. Who has been using the hyped up myth (thanks to his books) of the Devil's Quadrangle and recordings of distress signals from previously sunken ships to take attention off his smuggling operations. Batman and Wildcat defeat Kingsley's goons, however Kingsley manages to escape in his private helicopter. However, in an ironic twist of fate, Kingsley's helicopter crashes and his final words are a mayday to be rescued.
