During an auction of relics from the American Civil War, Bruce Wayne buys a special chest, where he finds a secret compartment with a patch created in the image of his bat-emblem. In order to learn the origin of such emblem, Bruce pays a visit to his old friend Professor Carter Nichols and asks him to send him back to 1862.
While in the past, Bruce comes across Martha Jennings, a notorious humanitarian figure, and also the hero Scalphunter. Working together, Batman and Scalphunter help Jennings deliver medical supplies to the people in need and they also play a small role during the Civil War.
