Synopsis for "This Is a Team-Up?"

Megistus has seized the alchemic magic of the universe, possessed Metamorpho and stolen Hal Jordan's Green Lantern Power Battery so he can use Metamorpho's body as a living Green Lantern Ring. The Challengers of the Unknown try and fail to stop him.

On the Daily Planet, Steve Lombard attempts to play a prank on Clark Kent. All of sudden, Clark Kent turns up and beats Lombard hard. Next, he kisses the first girl he sees. Suddenly he listens to a voice demanding he gets out. Clark rushes to a store room and changes into Ultraman. The real Superman is waiting for him outside. Ultraman pounces on Superman, and as both super-beings fall down and crash into the driveway, Ultraman shouts it wasn't his idea to come there and he actually needs Superman's help. Since Superman isn't feeling cooperative, Ultraman decides to use his few free minutes to level a hospital.

Their battle is interrupted by Mixyezpitelik's arrival, an Imp and longtime adversary of Ultraman. Mixyezpitelik teleports both fighters out of the planet and verifies that Ultraman didn't debrief Superman how he was supposed to. Mixyezpitelik shows Superman a red-hazed cosmic storm which is the origin of Red Kryptonite and whose metamorphic effects are extremely painful even to him, and proceeds to tell him about Megistus.

Megistus is an ancient sorcerer who has spent eons hiding as mastering Alchemy. Recently he began gathering artifacts of transformation from Superman's world and is using them as a magnet to draw the cosmic storm to Earth, an action which also puts Mixyezpitelik's dimension in danger because Megistus linked both dimensions when he stole the Library of Alexandria and hid it in Mixyezpitelik's universe. If the cosmic storm reaches Superman's Earth, it'll mutate every living being into horrible creatures. Mixyezpitelik intended to help, but he has to leave because Superman's universe is warping his mind into something akin to Mr. Mxyzptlk's.

Superman and Ultraman are forced to team up in spite of their mutual huge disliking. Ultraman reminds Superman that time Megistus took refuge inside the Philosopher's Stone and Wonder Woman throw it into the Sun.[1] Wonder Woman did right what Megistus wanted, and his citadel is now inside the Sun. Both super-beings head towards there.

Meanwhile, back on Edwards Air Force Base the Challengers witness Megistus flying upwards and throwing the Green Lantern Power Battery into the Sun, turning it into a green star and forcing Superman and Ultraman to turn around quickly.
