History
The Children's Crusade was an event under DC's Vertigo imprint, in which children and the children of flagship characters such as Animal Man, Black Orchid appeared in their own stories, where they had normally not been primary characters. It ran in most of the Annuals published in 1993. The plot revolved around the two dead boy-detectives, Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine, who go on a search for a group of missing children who have apparently been taken to a land called Free Country, where the childlike denizens—having been abused, unwanted, and endangered - have decided to help 'rescue' other children.
