Synopsis for "Inferno, Part 1"

Joe Chamberlain stands engulfed in flames and tries to recall how he got to this state. He thinks about the York Hills, a mining town that has been run dry. He drives to a diner where his sister Annie works. The siblings talk about getting a job for Joe and he tries to delay going home, soon he must go back to their father, Darren, who had been injured at work and had deteriorated into a resentful and bitter man and leaving the family in debt.

Elsewhere, a Salesman is stopped by Officer Figard, though the Salesman tries to avoid being charged the officer is adamant which causes the Salesman to wind his window up just as the Hound appears. Shortly after, the Salesman and Hound drive away from the frozen cadaver of Officer Figard.

In the Chamberlain house, Annie is calculating the family's budget and she finds them short for her tuition. Darren reveals he had lent the money to a friend who would "pay them back" but Joe storms out the house enraged and drives away into the forest where his car runs out of fuel.

He steps into the Salesman's headlights and is invited into his car. Although reluctant Joe enters the car and they soon start talking about how Joe wants more for his town, his family, and himself and the Salesman promises more; Joe just needs to shake his hand to become one of the Salesman's agents.

As soon as Joe begins to shake the Salesman's hand, fire begins to smoulder and the Salesman grins. Joe becomes engulfed in flames and spawns several flaming pillars which head toward his town, and the Salesman gives him the name, Brimstone.
