The Dreaming #1 is an issue of the series The Dreaming (Volume 1) with a cover date of June, 1996.
Synopsis for "The Goldie Factor, Part One"
Goldie gets fed up with the way Cain is murdering Abel all the time and so leaves the House of Secrets. Cain and Able go the Dreaming Library, but Lucien tells them that the only book he's got on golden gargoyles has had its pages torn out. Abel suggests they ask Eve about golden gargoyles and so they make their way to her cave. In another part of the Dreaming, Goldie stops into a diner to get something to eat where she encounters an armless and legless man who introduces himself as Tempto and tells Goldie that she can help her friend if she undertakes a dangerous journey. Eve is not happy to see Cain and Abel so Abel mentions they have lost Goldie and that Lucien said the only other person to ask about golden gargoyles was an armless and legless man. Eve tells them she doesn't know anything about golden gargoyles, but that she recently had a dream about an armless and legless man who once ruined her life.
