Synopsis for "Quantum Mechanic"

Following the escape of Max Thrane the media give him the villain name, Ultramax. General Eiling receives a briefing during which they refer to Captain Atom in a way which he finds inappropriate. Atom flies off and phones his PI Charlton whom he tells his plan to; to pretend to be a JROTC officer taking his son, Genji on a tour of an airfield.

Elsewhere, Ultramax hunts down the people who may have got him sent to prison which starts a media campaign covering the murders. Eiling, Doctor Megala and the PR representative review the case and Eiling suggests that the killer is not certain of who truly wronged him and instead is ensuring his revenge by killing them all. Meanwhile, all attempts to contact Captain Atom fail.

Dressed in his officer uniform, Captain Atom picks up Genji and brings him to the air base where they joyride in an F-16. After, in the canteen, Atom asks about Genji's father but the boy is indifferent, stating his hatred of the man who left his mother. Dropping Genji off at his house, Atom spots a glare focused on the boy's house. He races up fearing a gun and finds the General's men surveilling the boy. He storms around to the General's house but before anything can be said Ultramax bursts in and duels with Captain Atom. They are sucked into the upper realms of the Quantum Field after accidentally opening a breach. Given Ultramax's inexperience with the Quantum Field, Atom blasts him away and returns to General Eiling.

The General tells the Captain that Thrane has gone to a safe house - where he sits staring at a board of his targets, all deceased except for General Eiling.
