Synopsis for "Chapter One: Past"

The Fraction's homeworld was once a utopia, where advanced science blended harmoniously with nature; ruled over the the Empress, the product of a thousand generations of genetic engineering to create the perfect leader. One day, their leading scientists discovered a way to artificially tap into the Speed Force. The first test subject was Vel Anthro, the captain of the Empress's guard. The test was a success and so the "artificial conduit harnesses" were mass produced to give their entire population superhuman speed. With the power of the Force, the Fraction were able to rapidly develop and colonise their entire star system in a matter of hours, but in so doing they destroyed the natural environment of their homeworld and grew until the resources of their system were no longer enough to support them.

The Fraction's Empress orders Anthro to journey out and plunder new worlds for resources to feed the Fraction's ravenous hunger. He agrees, on the condition that she grant him her hand in marriage. He is almost executed on the spot for daring to ask but the Empress agrees. While raiding a nearby star system, Anthro's forces discover that there are beings who possessed a natural connection to the Speed Force. Using these "organic conduits", the Fraction are able to travel beyond their own universe and raid the Multiverse itself in search of resources.

She finds the soldiers firing at Wu and knocks one out and takes his gun. She shoots the gem which frees her soul. Avery and Dark Wu fall out of the ship and the Fraction fly away. Synopsis for "Chapter Four: Future"

In the future the as-yet unborn third West child, a boy, has been kidnapped by the Fraction and the entire Flash Family are searching for him across the Multiverse and Hypertime. Jai West, now the adult hero Surge, tracks the Faction to a world in the Multiverse they are currently looting. He has learned over the years to channel some of his Speed Force energy from strength into speed and is able to keep moving in their field, unlike when the Fraction first invaded Earth 0 when he was a child. He destroys their spire to unfreeze the world and battles the Fraction. Even with his strength he is outnumbered and calls his sister Irey, the Flash, for backup. Irey can't reach him as she is chasing down a lead of her own, but tells him that Impulse is sending a friend of his from the 30th Century to help.

Impulse's friend turns out to be Gold Beetle, who Jai instantly recognises as "Lilly", a girl he met, fell in love with and lost a long time ago. She is shocked when he calls her by her real name, but when he tells her who he is she impulsively kisses him, saying she had promised herself that was the first thing she would do if they ever met again. She tells him she is never letting him out of her sight again and they team up to rescue Jai's brother.

Notes

  • The One-Minute War storyline continues in The Flash #792.
  • As Jai West and Gold Beetle are not a couple yet, this story takes place some time before the events in 2041 of The Flash #771 that marked the first appearance of Jai West and Irey West's future counterparts.
  • In the Future story, there's a continuity error as Earth 55 Batman and Superman are shown to be both infected despite the former having died in DCeased #2 before Clark Kent was infected by the Anti-Livings.
