This episode takes place on May 23rd, 2017– the day that this episode was originally aired.
In an alternate reality of a local Multiverse– born as a consequence of Barry Allen never creating the Flashpoint Timeline– Savitar never came to exist. As a consequence of Savitar never existing in this continuity, the alternate H.R. Wells never had to sacrifice himself and kept being a member of Team Flash.^[1]
- H.R. Wells' presence also helped the alternate Team Flash easily defeat their version of DeVoe.^[2]
Barry and his future daughter XS will travel back in time to this point in time in "What's Past Is Prologue".
Hunter Zolomon is referred to as Black Flash for the first time in the Arrowverse continuity.
- After being destroyed by Killer Frost in this episode, he will never appear once again in the present in any other Arrowverse episode/story. This could suggest he has been actually murdered by Frost, but his death has never been confirmed.

The title of the episode is a reference to Barry giving up his role after being banished into the Speed Force.
