- The title of this episode is a pun on the movie, Licence to Kill;
- "January Galore" is a pun on Pussy Galore;
- Remington Meister is himself a mashup of many James Bond villains, including Auric Goldfinger;
- Barry and Ralph respectively introduces as "Allen. Barry Allen." and "Dibny. Ralph Dibny." like James Bond usually does;
- The Ring of Fire is a nod to the GoldenEye weapon;
- After capturing Barry and Ralph, Meister states, "I expect you to die!", which is a quote from the movie Goldfinger as it is also noted by Ralph;
- Similarly, the cannon Meister points to Barry and Ralph mirrors the weapon used by Goldfinger in the move;
- Ralph originally introduced himself as "Dibny. Ralph Dibny." in "Into the Void".
- After finding the sonic wrench in Cisco's workshop, Chester says, "I'm the Doctor", which is an iconic quote of the Doctor from Doctor Who.
