Notes
- This is the last The Flash episode to be mainly set in the Pre-Flashpoint Timeline of Earth-1.
- Although it will only be addressed in the following episode, Barry running back in time to prevent Eobard Thawne from killing his mother causes the creation of the Flashpoint Timeline.
- In Barry Lyga's The Flash: Hocus Pocus novel, it is eventually shown that alternate Iris West manages to prevent Barry's counterpart from going back in time. However, this event causes the birth of a whole "local" Multiverse,[1] which is later referred to as "Barryverse",[2] where the events of every Earth, including alternate versions of Earth-1 and Earth-38 which become the settings of Barry Lyga The Flash and Supergirl novels, unfolded differently.
- This episode reveals that Earth-1 is the center of the (Pre-Crisis) Arrowverse Multiverse.
- Hunter Zolomon is turned into the Arrowverse counterpart of Black Flash.
- The (yet-to-be-named) Black Flash's story is continued in the DC's Legends of Tomorrow episode, "The Legion of Doom".
Trivia
- Zoom's idea of a transdimensional wave to destroy the universe is inspired by the original Crisis on Infinite Earths event and will be the main plot of the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover.
- Barry Allen's time remnant sacrificing himself to prevent the destruction of the Multiverse is a callback to Earth-One The Flash/Barry Allen dying to save the Pre-Crisis Multiverse[3] in Crisis on Infinite Earths.
- His death will be mirrored by the death of Earth-90 Flash in "Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part Three".
