The events of this episode are rivisited and altered during the events "Flash Back" and "What's Past Is Prologue".
- These events will be eventually altered in a major way in the Post-Crisis continuity.^[1]
Despite being powered by the Negative Speed Force,^[2] this episode also implies that the (unnamed) Eobard Thawne is also connected to the Speed Force.
- This will be eventually confirmed in "The Reverse-Flash Returns".

The title of the episode is a reference to William Faulkner's novel of the same name.
The first incarnation of the Royal Flush Gang originally appeared in the Arrow episode, "Legacies".
Hartley Rathaway's grudge against his parents mirrors the plot of The Flash #307 which marked the first appearance of Osgood and Rachel Rathaway in the comics.
