Synopsis for "The Cosmological Quest for the Hero Wally West"

Wally West chases an Uncoiled through the SpectraVerse, eventually cornering it in a realm inhabited by sentient equations and destroying it with the D-Brane. Meanwhile on Earth 0, the Flash Family still struggle to deal with the escalating disturbances in reality. Barry Allen, under the control of the Reverse-Flash, runs on the Cosmic Treadmill to make the problem worse. Thawne makes him say that Wally has disappeared of his own free will and the Flash Family should respect his wishes and not look for him. Avery Ho and Wallace West sense something is wrong and run to the Flash Museum to speak with him in person, but "Barry" yells at them to leave him alone and they depart.

In the "Realm of Pure Math", the Resident tries to get Wally to focus on who he is and the world he left behind as his memories are fading again. One of the equations tells Wally that he has the essence of the Stillness about him, and Wally remembers he was trying to track the Stillness to find out what is going on. The equation says that the Stillness are beings of entropy and would not have saved them and their "polynomials" like he did. Wally asks what a polynomial is and the equation replies that it is a later iteration, akin to a daughter. This makes Wally remember that he has a daughter and the Resident tells him to focus on his memory of her and take them back to the Gallery of Moments. They teleport in front of Irey's statue in the Gallery, Wally remembering whi she is.

Wally touches Irey's statue, but rather than be teleported to her location, he and the Resident are sent to the Mirror World where they can see and hear her, but she is unaware of them. Irey is experimenting with the speed drug which Chad and his girlfriend had used. She believes she can refine the formula and make it safe to use so that everyone can have superspeed. Maxine Baker calls her to ask why she isn't fighting crime with the rest of her family and Irey replies that what she is doing is more important; she also says that Wally thinks too small and her project is better off without him. The Resident tells Wally she doesn't mean it but Wally says they're wasting time and runs off on the Stillness' trail, believing that Irey doesn't need him anymore.

Avery and Wallace run to the warehouse where Irey is working to ask her to track Wally's Speed Force signature. Wallace catches a glimpse of Wally's spectral form as he runs out of the warehouse past them. They go inside to speak to Irey but run into a barrier and the Mirror Master appears. Avery calls out to Irey but Mirror Master has her surrounded by mirrors which prevent her from seeing or hearing anyone, revealing that everything he and the other Rogues have done was to isolate Wally and break him emotionally. Suddenly Irey is able to finish the formula, apparently as a result of Mirror Master subconsciously feeding her hints. The drug lets off a burst of energy which puts Avery and Wallace out of phase with reality. This puts them on close to the same frequency of Wally, allowing them to see him in the distance and they chase after him.

Wally and the Resident follow the Stillness to one of the higher realms of the SpectraVerse known as the "Apparatus of Existence", where the laws of physics are maintained. It has been infested by Meat Balloons who came in through a rift and the inhabitants, mechanical creatures known as the "Physical Constants", tell Wall that they are physical manifestations of thoughts and feelings; not parasites as he had assumed. Wally notices that the rift they are coming through resembles the disturbance above the park. He touches it the rift and is able to see through it to Terrifitech, where Jai and Mister Terrific are talking to the cloned Ultra-Humanite brain. The brain claims that Wally West is destroying the Speed Froce, and in order to save the multiverse and the rest of the Flash Family, he needs to be killed.

Avery and Wallace follow Wally's trail to Terrifitech, arriving just as he and the Resident move on to another Realm. They overhear the brain saying that Wally is the cause of the disturbances, but see Gorilla Grodd in a mirror telepathically speaking through the creature. They realise Wally is being framed by the Rogues and once more chase after him.

Wally and the Resident end up at the Source Wall, where the promethean gods making it up tell him he is like the Stillness: he has spent too long in the Gallery and lost his connection to his old life, becoming jaded and empty like them. Wally refuses to believe this, saying he has someone who keeps him tied to humaniy, but struggles to remember her name. The Resident tells him her name is Linda and begs him to focus on her. Wally and the Resident are transported to Wally's house, but in a spectral form where nobody can see or hear them. Amanda Waller has come to their home and is interrogating Linda about Wally's whereabouts. Wally tries to match Linda's vibration but he hears piercing flute music and is unable to continue. Avery and Wallace catch up to him at the Source Wall but the Folded Man pulls them into another dimension just as Wally is pulled back to the wall. He sees destructive energy sparking off Avery and Wallace as they disappear, and believes that their powers are tearing reality apart. The Folded Man and Abra Kadabra, revealed to be the one behind the mysterious flute music which Linda has been hearing, banish the junior Flashes to the ruins of Timepoint.

Wally senses the Stillness out in space and abandons Linda to chase them. He finally corners them on an asteroid and demands to know what is happening. They reply that the Speed Force is sick, but they are unsure what is causing it. They tell Wally that his is burdened by ties to the world and show him what is happening on Earth. Linda tells Waller that she loves Wally, but she has no idea where he is or if he's coming back, and cannot seem to care. Waller's handheld lie detector determines that she is telling the truth. The Resident begs Wally not to listen, saying that Linda isn't herself and needs his help, but Wally replies there's only one way he can help and jumps off the asteroid, shifting back to the Gallery.

Avery and Wallace are "rescued" by the Linea Bureau. Inspector Pilgrim tells them that the Stillness are unimaginable powerful Speed Force conduits, who have become jaded and uncaring. they are attempting to summon an Arc Angle, an even more powerful cosmic entity, so it can destroy them and bring their meaningless existence to an end. He puts them into stasis with Max, Impulse and the other speedsters.

In the Gallery, the Resident tells Wally that he cannot stay too long and needs to leave, but Wally begins slashing his own thoughts with the D-Brane. He melts down and says that he can't live up to all his responsibilities, and no matter what he does it is never enough. He slumps on the floor under his own statue and says it is time to stop.
