Synopsis for "Rough Day"

It's been a bad day for the Flash who as usual came late for work, receiving a berating from Captain Coover in front of a smug Detective Ulski. Later, he had an incident with his father. But now he's being attacked by unnatural weather phenomena caused by Marco Mardon, the Weather Wizard, whom Flash considers as his most powerful Rogue and someone who'd cause damage even for a small amount of money. Mardon upon being confronted warns Flash that he's flooded the fault upon which Central City sits with sea water and has kickstarted its freezing, which will cause a major earthquake that will level the city.

Wizard states he was told to merely keep the hero busy for 10 minutes, but they can simply pretend to fight if he wants. Flash tries dissuading him and states he knows he's being forced to do this by Amazo, who's been stealing technology and abducting scientists while the Rogues distract him. Mardon states he has his father and when asked if he'll bring so much harm just for him, he states yes and asks if other people wouldn't. Flash starts feeling unsure about the answer and remembers the discomfort he felt when he met with his convict father Henry in Iron Heights, while being a forensic detective in the police.

Henry told his son that an out-of-towner named Amazo was making the Rogues do his bidding and was a giant with an aura of fear. He however had learnt about a vagabond called Professor Ivo being associated with him, but warned him to not tell anyone about it otherwise he might get killed by the other prisoners. Henry then told his son he was proud of him and to also inform the Flash that he was proud of the hero too. Barry promised but this left him sad, in addition to already being discomforted. Back in present, Flash is evading Mardon's lightning bolts and is told that his father has his money. As they continues battling, he tells Flash that he should've chosen to have a fake fight.

Nearly escaping his lightning bolt causes Barry to wonder why he can't time anything right on the current day, remembering how he was late for Iris. When he had went to went to apologize to her earlier in the day with a rose bouquet, she stated didn't mind and told him she understood as both their lives were busy due to their jobs. Before she left, she told him to call her after her interview and told him that she likes chocolate strawberry flowers. Iris had kissed him before leaving and Flash starts thinking that he didn't have a completely bad day. Rushing towards the Weather Wizard, Barry grabs him and threatens to bury him underground.

Flash does carry out his threat partially before saving Mardon and states they could fight between themselves or Amazo. Mardon agrees to help and states the android has stolen the powers of all other Rogues. Flash meanwhile had learnt from Professor Ivo that he had created him to so he lived forever by leeching on life essence of others. Later at his hideout, Amazo is told by a professor that his staff is unable to reverse-engineer the essence transfer process and threatens him against failing. The Flash and Weather Wizard attach him, with the former demanding back all the tech he stole. Amazo refuses and attacks Flash with Heat Wave and Captain Cold's guns, while being unaffected by his attacks.

Realizing he can't defeat the android normally, Barry staggers him with a barrage of kicks before telling Mardon to attack. Amazo falls before the Wizard's lighting attack and Barry tells the doctor held hostage that now he's out of commission, everyone he abducted will be freed soon. The professor however states that like Ivo he didn't want to die and has created six new bodies, while Mardon points the android version of Rogues who have surrounded them.

Synopsis for "United They Fall, Chapter 2: The Opportunity"

This story is reprinted from The Flash Annual (Volume 4) #1.

About a year and a half ago, Leonard Snart had been the leader of the Rogues. They were robbing the Central City Central Bank, when they were met outside by the police. Though their advanced technology gave them the power, the Rogues had three rules they would abide by: the Rogues did not kill, the Rogues did not get involved with drugs, and finally, everything had to be about the score. They were thwarted once again by the Flash, and after they escaped, Leonard declared that this was the last straw.

Mirror Master pinned their failure on Axel Walker - the Trickster, who pointed a finger at Leonard's sister Lisa, who he believed was only around because she was Leonard's sister and Mirror Master's girl. That was Axel's last chance, and in anger, Leonard fired him while telling the other Rogues to leave him alone. Drunk and depressed, Leonard drowned his sorrows in whisky and did a half-assed break-in. He was accosted, then, by Darwin Elias, who offered him the chance to even the odds between the Rogues and the Flash.

Synopsis for "United They Fall, Chapter 3: The Price"

This story is reprinted from The Flash Annual (Volume 4) #1.

Leonard insisted that the remainder of the Rogues join him at Elias' lab, where they would use the doctor's Genome Recoder to give them powers. Lisa had been against it from the beginning, but her brother moved forward with the plan anyway. The Rogues put their trust in him, regardless, unaware of what would happen. As the device did its work, they did, in fact gain powers. It was only Sam Scudder who realized something was wrong, and tried to warn Lisa to escape.

The device exploded as each Rogue succumbed to the weight of their powers, Lisa realized that she - who had never had any kind of power, was being removed from her body, forcibly. She became a ghostly projection of herself, without the ability to touch or manipulate anything for more than a short while. Her real body, meanwhile, was rendered comatose. Even so, Lisa had the privilege of being able to stay on earth. Her boyfriend Sam was trapped forever in the Mirror World.

Five minutes ago, Patty Spivot was sent to do some blood tests on a John Doe, in order to find out his identity. The man finds her strangely familiar, but his memories are few. Synopsis for "United They Fall, Chapter 5: The Showdown"

This story is reprinted from The Flash Annual (Volume 4) #1.

Now, with the Rogues escaped, the aftermath of their crime is apparent. Pied Piper has been injured, Darwin Elias is in dire condition after Glider placed a shard of mirror near an important artery, and Captain Cold is on his way down to face Flash and the police. Director David Singh rushes to his lover Piper's side, trying to keep him alive until help arrives. Flash is doing the same with Elias, when Captain Cold appears and freezes the doctor in a block of ice, explaining that it will keep him alive in the meantime, while he and Flash team up to face the Rogues. Reluctantly, Flash agrees.

When they face down with the Rogues, they are split apart when Glider throws Flash into the Mirror World so she can face her brother alone. Mirror Master is bitter about having been trapped in the Mirror World, and brings in both Heat Wave and Weather Wizard to help him defeat the speedster. Glider, meanwhile, is even more angry with Leonard for allying himself with the Flash. He on the other hand wonders why she would go so far to prove she can lead the Rogues as the is hardly compliant with the three rules he established for the Rogues when he was leader.

Flash manages to grab Mirror Master's mirror gun and drag Heat Wave and Weather Wizard out of the Mirror World. Aside from the millions of tiny cuts he received, he thinks that encounter went well enough. Suddenly, though, he is knocked unconscious by a blast of ice. Leonard explains he was merely playing them all, having aligned himself with the Flash as he owed him a favor for saving Lisa's life during the blackout, and he repaid it by saving Doctor Elias as well as bringing down the Rogues. He points out that his planning skills and adherence to the Rogue code make him a better leader, while adding a fourth rule of the Rogues always sticking together and asking who is with him.

His success is short lived, as suddenly, hundreds of pods begin falling from the sky, and crashing down onto the streets. From each pod springs a talking warrior-gorilla, led by Grodd, who demands justice against the Flash.
