Synopsis for "The Invasion of the Cloud Creatures!"
This story is reprinted from The Flash #111.
Doctor Summers tells his audience that he was testing volcanic lava at the only active volcano in the US in Lassen Volcanic National Park when he feels something watching him. He took a picture of a face in the clouds, but the picture did not develop. He hypothesizes he has discovered a species of sentient Cloud Creatures created from the volcanoes, however has no documented proof of his claims. He believes earthquakes and volcanoes are a result of he inner earth having life wanting to hurt surface dwellers. He is ultimately laughed at by the scientific community.
After the lecture, Iris tells Barry she is not impressed. Meanwhile, the Cloud Creatures decide to make a direct attack on the human race, attacking US airforce bases.
Barry leaves Iris with Dr. Wiley to become the Flash and confront the Cloud Creatures. He attempts to spin a tornado at them but they increase their altitude avoiding his attack. The Flash gets the idea to skip cloud to cloud like a rock over water, to attack their center nucleus. When he does, it destroys the Cloud Creatures and they become ordinary rain clouds that drop rain over the area.
Afterwards, Barry calls Iris to set up another date, however Iris declines telling Barry that she has a date with Doctor Summers.
