The Flash #235 is an issue of the series The Flash (Volume 1) with a cover date of August, 1975.

Synopsis for "Vandal Savage - - Wanted Dead And Alive!"

Vandal Savage appears at Barry's home, claiming to have kidnapped his wife, Iris. Barry's Flash Ring activates on Vandal's command, and he hurls against the immortal foe. But Vandal puts Barry's speed against him, making him bounce all around the house, causing it to crumble down. But this was all a mental image Save put on his mind, as Stacy wakes him up and finds his home is intact, but Iris is still missing.

In Coast City, Savage does the same with Hal Jordan and kidnaps Carol Ferris. Hal's ring activates, again on Savage's command, and Green Lantern confronts him. But Savage can manipulate his constructs and put them against Green Lantern.

The next day, on Earth-Two, Jay Garrick stops some drug smugglers and finds both Green Lantern and The Flash, who came from Earth-One looking for help regarding Vandal Savage. Jay explains that, in their last encounter, Savage got struck by a fireball that was supposed to give him immortality and almost annihilated him, turning him into some kind of ghost on Earth-Two, but a normal living human on Earth-One. The heroes part ways, returning to Earth-One, but Jay excuses himself, saying he has his own "crisis" to deal with on Earth-Two.

Back on Earth-One, both heroes receive a call for help from Iris and Carol, but it's a trap set by Vandal Savage to draw their attention. They find a fireball floating in the air, and Savage, from an undisclosed location, explains that both women are trapped inside. Flash runs in circles to extinguish the flame with dirt, with unsuccessful results. Green Lantern drills a hole in the ground to bring water out to the surface, but a sudden spurt hits him, knocking him out. It's up to Flash to deal with the fire now, and he brings fire extinguishers and shoots at the fire while running around the fireball. But Green Lantern was pretending to be unconscious while he located Vandal Savage's hideout, so he jumps off the ground and takes Savage from inside a tree. With his Power Ring, Hal forces the foe to reveal his scheme. With Savage's mental block out, Flash manages to extinguish the flame, only to find out that Carol was the only woman trapped inside. Savage explains that by the time he arrived at Barry's home, Iris was already gone, so he bluffed Barry saying he kidnapped her. Barry wonders where is his wife, and whether if she's still alive or not.

Meanwhile, on Earth-Two, Jay Garrick is keeping Iris away from Barry, and won't allow them to see each other again.
