Synopsis for "Rival Forces"
Wally West and Linda Park watch news on TV and Wally is annoyed because they refer to Keystone City's newest superhero Argus as the Flash's partner after their recent collaboration against Team Turmoil. Wally also seems a bit jealous because Argus recently saved Linda's life. It is also reported that the FBI found some kind of time capsule within the Combine's former headquarters. Wally immediately changes into his costume and leaves, because he fears the capsule is another bomb left by the Combine.
Meanwhile, the crime boss Mr. Acquava tortures a former member of the Combine cartel. After the man confessed that the time capsule could include evidence of Acquava's criminal activities, he is killed. Argus, who is on site in his undercover identity, can only watch helplessly because he cannot expose himself as a cop. Acquava plans to get his hands on the time capsule and Argus forwards this information to his police contact a little later.
Flash visits a weapons engineer called MacAlistaire who, according to Wally's friend Piper, might know something about the mysterious time capsule. But MacAlistaire does not recognize the capsule and believes that it indeed could be a bomb or even something worse. After Wally has left, Argus appears at MacAlistaire's workshop as well to pick up some special weapons he ordered from the weapons maker.
Shortly afterwards, both Flash and Argus coincidentally meet each other at the former HQ of the Combine. They reach the room with the capsule, but as soon as Mr. Acquava arrives with his men, the room is suddenly sealed off. The capsule opens itself and reveals a battle robot with morphing abilities. Apparently, the Combine deliberately left this deadly parting gift for their foe Acquava. In the end, Flash and Argus manage to defeat the robot and Flash hands Acquava over to the police. And Wally admits that Keystone City could probably use a hero like Argus.
