- Some of you will think this absurd, but... this thing you call the Speed Force... I think whatever its source... it's alive.
The Flash (Volume 6) #11 is an issue of the series The Flash (Volume 6) with a cover date of September, 2024. It was published on July 24, 2024.
Synopsis for "Issue Eleven: Cutting the Pie"
On another plane of existence, the Arc Angles say that, even with his memories erased, Wally is still unlikely to do what they want, and the Crown of Thawnes will not be sufficient to force him. The Stillness break in and demand to be destroyed. The Arc Angles explain that the Stillness were some of the first beings to harness the "Deep Change", and the Arc Angles helped them to become immortal in aeons past. Since then, both the Stillness and Arc Angles have come to believe that time and change are abominations, the source of all pain and suffering. The Stillness want to die to escape this, but the Arc Angles want to destroy time itself, leaving reality as perfectly ordered. Wally starts to remember his family, and so to get him where they need him to go, the Arc Angles order the Stillness to get Wally to chase them, promising to destroy them if they do. The Stillness tell Wally they are going to Earth to kill everyone and race off, and Wally follows in hot pursuit.
Meanwhile on Earth 0, the Flash Family gather at the Flash Museum to discuss what is going on. Barry says there are disturbances in the Speed Force, but Inspector Pilgrim says it is bigger than that and Jesse Quick points out that Circuit Breaker's powers were glitching too, meaning the Still Force is also being affected. Jules says that he believes the Speed Force and Still Force are not distinct but are part of the same spectrum; and Jai replies that it's more like an ocean. He says that he's been investigating all the cosmic forces and believes they're part of something bigger. Irey also reveals the drug and says that it doesn't come from the Speed Force, it was distilled from the normal world, meaning whatever power is behind the Forces is all around them. Pilgrim, who has knowledge from the future but can't explicitly reveal it, gives them a hint by saying that the Forces are an expression of a universal constant; and Barry realises that the Forces are made of time.
The Crown and the Stillness goad Wally to break the light barrier, and as he runs the Arc Angles reveal to him that the cosmic Forces are emanations from a being known as the "Deep Change" which resides outside the Multiverse beyond the Source Wall. On Earth Max Mercury comes to the same conclusion and tells the others that he believes this cosmic being is in pain. The grownups debate exactly what the nature of this being is until Barry says that they need to find out who's behind what has happened to Wally. The junior Flashes, already bored, race off to find the Rogues and bring them in for questioning. However they discover that, rather than receive their promised "rewards" from the Arc Angles; Mirror Master, Grodd and Abra Kadabra are dead and the Folded Man has been reduced to an insane, rambling hobo.
As Wally approaches the Source barrier the Arc Angles tell him that the relationship between the conduits and the Deep Change is symbiotic, they feed it back emotion and experience in exchange for their powers. The Ac Angles' manipulation has left the Deep Change blind to the Multiverse and starved, so it will eagerly allow Wally through the barrier, and through him they will destroy it with the Crown. Wally reaches the Source Wall and all the conduits feel a jolt like the world taking a breath, and Linda sees the Resident instead of her reflection in a mirror. The Arc Angles destroy the Stillness at the edge of the Multiverse and Wally breaks through to the Source beyond.
