Synopsis for "Bad Moon Rising, Part One"
Since Eclispo emerged as the "Heliophage" the moon has been surrounded by an energy field known as the "Velocisphere". Mister Terrific launches a drone to the moon, which passes through the Velocisphere and finds an army of Wally West's temporal clones in a full scale war with the Heliophage's forces. Although on the outside world the Heliophage only appeared fifteen hours ago, due to time dilation the Flash army have been fighting for years from their perspective. Heliophage is giving the enemy superspeed as well, so to maintain a speed advantage the Flashes need to keep the Velocisphere going and prevent the moon returning to normal time. The drone meets up with one of the clones, who goes by the serial number F8-3-1459. He escorts the drone towards the army's headquarters, where the original Wally is generating a new battalion of clones for the next push. The drone tells Wally that the League cannot offer any help as they are currently dealing with Gorilla Grodd on Earth. As they walk through the bunker they dicover some wounded survivors from the last assault, which Wally describes as a "waste".
Wally takes the drone into the command centre where Inspector Pilgrim briefs it on the situation. Heliophage is sheltered under a cyclone of dust and plasma on the south pole which their sensors can't penetrate, and nearby a huge structure blasting energy into space has been constructed. Pilgrim tells the drone that they believe it is a jet and Heliophage is attempting to move the moon out of orbit, as his forces are attempting to build more jets. They both point out that it is strange Heliophage is trying to steal the moon when he should be ascending to godhood. Wally's family teleports in, which they do regularly to provide morale to the troops, and Inspector Pilgrim tells F8-3-1459 to leave as he needs to brief their special forces: a group of clones wearing white uniforms known as "Sliders".
F8-3-1459 takes the drone to the muster for the next wave. Although the rest of the clones are stoic and focused on their duty, F8-3-1459 is afraid and vomits. Kid Flash and Avery Ho blast out of the bunker and take out some enemy artillery by bouncing vibrations off ach other, which F8-3-1459 describes as a cluster bomb made of angry space-time. Judy Garrick orders the clones to advance, and F8-3-1459 again pukes in fear. The clones charge towards a new vent being constructed with the drone following. Along the way they encounter the Flash's enemies Girder and Magenta, who have had their powers augmented by Heliophage. Hundreds of clones die, but the survivors are able to establish a new trench line. They receive orders from a speedster moving too fast to identify, who tells them that a secondary vent is being constructed nearby and to take it out with the "Newton Protocol". The rest of the clones go over the top and charge the vent but F8-3-1459 and the drone remain behind. The clones all run at the vent together and it explodes; F8-3-1459 explains that maintaining the separate timelines requires huge amounts of Speed Force energy, and if they make contact without matching waveforms all the energy is released at once. The drone suddenly realises what Wally meant about the survivors being "a waste": the clones are not just the soldiers, they are the munitions.
F8-3-1459 forces himself out of the trench to sacrifice himself like the others. As he runs at the jet another clone joins him and they prepare to detonate, but before they make it they are stopped by Kaptain Zero, a powered-up Captain Cold. The other clone says they need to take him out but F8-3-1459 says they should try to escape instead, revealing that he doesn't want to sacrifice himself. The other clone declares him a coward and says he'll take Kaptain Zero himself, but is instantly killed by a blast of ice. The blast knocks F8-3-1459 and the drone all the way to Heliophage's dome. F8-3-1459 wonders what's wrong with him as he's not supposed to be afraid. Suddenly the side of the dome lists to allow a division of Girders to leave. F8-3-1459 sees Heliophage in great pain with Foxy still struggling inside his energy form.

Notes
- This issue carries the legacy numbering The Flash #820.
- According to the Flashes, the Moon has been surrounded by an aura generated by Wally West and his clones known as the "Velocisphere", where from their perspective years have passed since the beginning of the War with the Heliophage due to time dilation. However, only fifteen hours have passed on Earth since the epilogue of the previous issue.
- Wally and the drone also suggest that the League is unable to assist in the battle on the Moon due to the events of the We Are Yesterday crossover between Batman/Superman: World's Finest (Volume 1) and Justice League Unlimited (Volume 2), placing the events on Earth around Spring 2025. This retcons the whole Eclipso storyline into taking place around the events of Justice League Unlimited (Volume 2) #5, where Wally also appeared, as there is no timeskip between The Flash (Volume 6) #14 and The Flash (Volume 6) #19.
